Eh. Not enough good cars left at the end to do anything.

Xfinity and Cup both need a plate track package overhaul, very average racing all weekend

This restrictor plate package this year is terrible. Cars are too unstable and you can't get a run on anyone without help.

Probably the least competitive Talladega race since the late 90's (when let's be real, it was mostly extremely meh racing at superspeedways, very similar to this with cars being unable to pass one another).

I'm happy they raced cleanly to the finish anyway and it wasn't a catastrophe of a race just kind of a snoozer. I expect they'll change up the package soon after that.

The cars are loose, but not fast. Strange.

They were fast until Friday evening when NASCAR shrunk the plates (as if it would make any difference to any of the factors in McMurray's accident).

Unfortunately that’s how NASCARs knee jerk decision making works. Even though lowering the speeds slightly won’t fully prevent airborne accidents they do it anyway just to cover their asses. If there was a big flip in the race today and a driver or fan was injured they could still make the statement that they took measures to try and prevent an airborne crash. Even though as you said it had little to do with McMurray’s crash they were happy to sacrifice the cars power and produce terrible racing where no one had enough power to get runs and make passes :(
