In after people using arbitrary reasons to feel superior over someone who disagrees with the quality of the finish

Well, I can see I'm not going to get any intelligent debate here, enjoy your day.

At least you're honest with yourself.

LOL no

I mean, I just feel there's more points to a discussion than "that finish wasn't any good" and "No, you're wrong, true racing fans think that finish was great and anyone who doesn't think so is a fatalz wanting carnage lover"

Of all places to get on a high horse about that, here isn't one of them.

Plate race turned into a fuel mileage race... Interesting.

Honestly, the wacky finish with guys running dry saved this from being a completely farcical derpfest.

Whole damn speedweek was just crash, crash, crash.

Guys have to make their play for the front before the white.

Everytime things doesn't go the way people expect, they are gonna bitch about it no matter what , likes it's somebody or something's fault ( new rules , stupid drivers , whatever). It's racing, it's unpredrectable by nature.

I don't care the way it goes ,I felt excited and enjoyed for once the fact having a full green flag run to the finish and not some 2 laps shootout randomness event.

When you think of all the ways the finish could have gone that would make you embarrassed to be a NASCAR fan, this was close to the best possible scenario. Not that the rest of the race wasn't a total shitshow, but it's heartening to see that occasionally a clean and exciting finish can come out of a sport engineered to produce crashes.

If you didn't enjoy that please just stop watching, it'll improve you blood pressure and avoid the threads becoming bitchfests.

The rules are what they are, NASCAR's target audience can barely wait long enough for a computer to boot up, let alone sit through the 'good old days' of racing single file for three hours, NASCAR is simply catering to the next generation of fans, cos the old farts are going to die off evenally.

Not that I think the new race format caused any of the wrecks today, that was purely down to the drivers being idiots. Next week will be a better indication of how the new format works.

Nothing wrong with that finish, I'll take it over the shitshow it could easily have been

I actually like the new rules , at least for the fact it forces drivers to race during the whole race and not ride around the whole event until 10 to go , it definitely got a bit rough but sometimes that's how it goes , at the end of the day I've enjoyed my time.

Exactly. Lame and uninspiring winner but for once a plate race had a CLEAN dramatic finish.

That was a finish we all wanted. Clean race to the flag. Really good race.

It could have been much, much worse.

I have to say, the race as a whole was pretty poor. There was some good racing but it was too broken up by shitty driving and the absurdly-long caution periods for the segment endings. The one thing that hurt the race that was beyond NASCAR/competitor control was the Kyle Busch wreck. Took out a few really strong contenders.

Finish didn't make up for all of that but it was still a decent turnaround to go home on.

Finish was one if the best parts of the race. A little too much single file but not a bad race

Very very occasional NASCAR watcher here. Forgot the race was on, checked in on the thread and saw all the complaints about the new race format. Not knowing anything about it checked out the new rules and points......Jesus Christ what an absolute disaster they are.

When you make the FIA appear to be geniuses you know you have gone and messed up.

This was my 2nd time at Daytona. Last time was '15 and they were under construction. Some observations from this trip:

-Jesus christ daytona, you have far too few urinals. It was a minimum 20 minute wait to piss. During cautions/reds, it was over 30. We're talking lines of over a hundred people for a bathroom that has 8 urinals in it. An elderly man near me had to skip ahead so he didn't wet himself. These stands were JUST renovated. How do you fuck that up? There was no line for the ladies room. And yes, I've been to many other tracks and never seen it this bad.

-same story for the food. They have a ton of different vendors in there, but none of them capable of handling a line of more than 5 people. I decided to go to the papa John's window during the (exceedingly long) red, and it took literally 28 minutes to get my 8" personal pepp pizza. I've been to other races with crowds this large, never seen it that bad.

-The kyle/jr wreck happened super far from us and the first images on the big screen were of Kyle's wrecked car. The crowd erupted. Then it switched to a shot of Jr's car and the crowd shut right up. Was pretty funny.

-It was crazy that in a race with so many wrecks, they all happened as far from us as possible. We were sitting just past pit exit.

-Ryan Blaney needs a bigger merch area.

-speaking of Blaney, heck of a run on the last lap. I was pulling for him and he made the end exciting for me.

In summary, it was an enjoyable race from the stands but I missed far too much of it standing in line for the pisser.

Pretty good finish, but glad I only watched the last 7 laps of this race.
