Moody made an interesting little point today on Sirius Speedway. One positive about Logano's move to Penske is that the expectations and pressure won't be as ridiculous as his initial move to Cup. He replaced one of the best drivers in all motorsports in 2009. In 2013, he'll be replacing a guy who failed a drug test who replaced a driver that was kicked out because of his temper tantrums.

Happy for Kenseth to Gibbs. I may even root for him now, so happy he got away Roush.

Bullshit though about Logano to Penske. Hopefully Alliance Truck Parts will step up and sponsor Sammy in the 12 car for '13.

Kenseth, Hamlin and Busch is a really strong team, hard to go past them next year

As for Logano to the 22, too soon there are plenty of other capable drivers who should have got that ride

This guy wasn't a fan of the move.

Not sure I'd want to trust that dude around my kids, if I had any.

Fixed for you.

I wouldn't bitch if they brought Hornish up as a 3rd Cup team either, for R+D.

RCR considering Kurt Busch: The owner of Richard Childress Racing has discussed putting 2004 Sprint Cup champion Kurt Busch in a fourth car next season if sponsorship can be found. "I have talked to Kurt about running a full season with a fourth team if we had sponsorship,'' Childress told ESPN.com on Friday at Richmond International Raceway. "He's a very, very talented driver. I like Kurt. Kurt and I would get along. There's just not a sponsor out there today that can fill a complete car.'' Busch through a team public relations representative said he had nothing to add to Childress' comments. Childress said he should know his entire driver lineup by mid-October. He plans to field three Sprint Cup teams with drivers Kevin Harvick, Paul Menard and Jeff Burton, as well as three Nationwide teams. Childress' grandson Austin Dillon will drive one of the full-time Nationwide cars with grandson Ty Dillon driving 8-10 Nationwide races while running a full-time Truck Series schedule. "He and I would get along, and he would listen to me,'' Childress said of Busch. "One thing he needs is somebody, when he does do wrong, to discuss how to handle it.'' Busch has spent this season driving for underfunded and primarily unsponsored #51 Phoenix Racing. Phoenix Racing general manager Steve Barkdoll told ESPN.com recently that owner James Finch would welcome Busch back in 2013 if sponsorship was found.(ESPN)(9-8-2012)

I see him driving the 78 next year.

Read Finch might be done after this season since there going to new cars next year. I think he said this a few years ago too and look he is still in the sport.

I do wonder how hard it will be for teams like TBR, Front Row, and Nemco to stay in business for next year.

JR Motorsports and its competition director of five years, Tony Eury Sr., announced today the decision to amicably part ways, effective Friday.

Eury is a winner of 55 NASCAR races in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series as a crew chief. He has 28 years in the NASCAR industry, the last five of which were served as competition director and crew chief for JR Motorsports. The company has amassed all nine of its victories under Eury’s watch. JR Motorsports’ last victory came on Sept. 4, 2010, with driver Jamie McMurray.

“The conversation Tony Sr. and I had was one of the most difficult I’ve ever been a part of,” said Kelley Earnhardt Miller, general manager of JR Motorsports. “I believe Tony Sr.’s passion for the sport is exceeded only by his yearning to excel in it, and that itself became the issue that both he and I struggled with. At JR Motorsports we do this to win races and compete for championships, and lately we have not met that standard. Being the competitor that Tony Sr. is, I know that bothers him more than anyone.”

In an effort to improve performance, a crew chief swap was implemented in April between Eury Sr. and Bruce Cook. Cook took over of the company’s flagship No. 88 team driven by Cole Whitt, while Eury turned his attention to the partial entry No. 5 team driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ron Fellows while still serving as competition director. Whitt responded with two top-fives and eight top-10s in 19 races, while the Earnhardt/Fellows duo scored fifth-place finishes in three of its four races.

The No. 5 entry has no more races scheduled in 2012. Eury Sr.’s son, Tony Eury Jr., remains crew chief for JR Motorsports’ No. 7 Chevrolet and co-owner of the company with Earnhardt Jr. and Earnhardt-Miller.

“I want what’s best for Dale Jr., Kelley, Tony Jr., and all those employees. I really do,” said Eury Sr. “We accomplished a lot in a short time, and nobody is prouder of that than I am. I’m not sure what’s next for me, and I’m not sure I’m in a hurry to find out.”

Eury came to JR Motorsports in 2007, compiling seven wins, 48 top-fives and 86 top-10s as crew chief of the No. 88 team. Prior to that he spent 21 years at Dale Earnhardt Inc., where he won two Nationwide Series championships with Earnhardt Jr. in 1998 and 1999.

“I can’t think of anyone who has impacted my career and development as a driver more than Tony Sr.,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I know my dad ultimately put me in the Nationwide Series car back in the ’90s, but Tony Sr. was the one who convinced him to do it. He was with me through two Nationwide Series championships and five full seasons as a Cup driver. We won a lot of races together, and as much as he impacted my career as a race car driver, he means more to me on a personal level. He’s done a lot for this organization, and I thank him for it.”

I'm sure Joe could probably scrape up enough to build at least one car. Especially if he can keep his Nationwide efforts funded and running like he has. It won't be a surprise to see his cup efforts continue in the start and park category though.

I'm sure Eury Sr is the reason for JR Motorsports not doing well in Nationwide.. can't be the drivers.

Lofton 2013 sponsorship level may be impacted by election results: Justin Lofton has a good reason to keep an eye on the presidential election this year.Lofton The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver doesn't have a full season locked down for 2013 at Eddie Sharp Racing yet -- he said he has a verbal commitment for 10 races -- but he might after the Nov. 6 election. But whether he has a full-time ride in 2013 depends on who wins the election, he said. If Republican nominee Mitt Romney wins, Lofton said, there is a sponsor ready to commit. Lofton earned his first career Truck Series win earlier this year at Charlotte. He is currently fifth in the points standings.(AL.com)(9-8-2012)

That's pretty pathetic of the sponsor.

That actually sounds more fishy (or paranoid) than anything else.
