Just me in here? Odd though that there'd be a few more around. (or has everyone just forgot? :p )

Nemecheck involved in a bit of a pile up at the end of the East race, probably took the biggest impact but not too big, it'd be hard to have a big crash with this track layout the way it is...

I wonder if the other series running on the full oval this weekend will be affected by the short oval rubber when they return to racing.
It's only a quarter of the backstretch it seems but there could be a bit more grip down there...

Trying to work out, how much power do these cars have and how does that correlate to the Goody's Dash and other series that used to come here and run the full track? :?

No doubt Speedweeks isn't what it used to be. Imagine these races taking place on the full track, that'd be tast

Szeggedy passing Goodale on the outside in the second mod heat gives me a small glimmer of hope that the mod tour feature will redeem this all.

Goody's Dash was orignally a 4 cylinder subcompact class (transitioned to 6 cylinder engines in their final years), much smaller and much less power. K&N Pro cars are essentially old Cup and Nationwide cars (Pre COT) or current ARCA cars, wheelbase can be 105" or 110", they use 358 small block engines (V8) like the Nationwide cars do, all though they are still carberated, horsepower is also close to a Nationwide car. They use bias-ply tires instead of radials.

Modifieds are a whole different animal and would take some major attachments to race on the big track.

Yeah, I said that during the stock car race, forgot about the modifieds and I wouldn't want them out on the full track! :8:

With that info tho there's really no need for the short track to be used by anything but the Modifieds tho, lameeeee....

Oh yeah, I forgot about the speedway modifieds races they ran from 77-80, would have liked to have been around to see those.

Some pictures of the modifieds at Daytona are on this page:

http://www.jcs-group.com/racin/trickle02/memories.html

they ran the combination oval/ road course for awhile, then moved to just the high banks only.

It kind of sucks that there's so many cars starting so we have these dumb spins every 5 laps

Breaking numbers down, in 15 laps they had 3 cautions... Simple number crunching shows they are on pace for 30 cautions in this 150 lap race. Just too many cars for a 4/10 mile track, or 2/5 if you like to simplify fractions.

Yellow At The Beach!

Run this event on a normal short track next year. Or let them run the big track, hell yeah!
