Yea, it looks like it will probably rank up there in boring with the Toyota offering. Dodge, as usual, has the best looker overall.

I read somewhere that Michael Andretti was looking into starting a Cup team next year, with Dodge as the manufacturer of choice.

I thought they were pulling them off this weekend onwards on anything less than 2 miles.

TBH, that looks just like an Impala with a different grill.

Wouldn't be surprised if that picture was from the Homestead testing they did a few months ago.

Yup, about the shark fin, I think I misunderstood it, they've made them bigger the wording is something to the effect of "mandating the superspeedway spec deflector on all tracks over 2 miles" which probably means they're staying, even on short tracks and they're putting an even bigger fin on for Michigan/Pocono etc.

The raising of the side skirts could make the racing better though.

And that's cool.

Andretti Autosport to start NASCAR program, according to sources

If confirmed, the manufacturer of choice could be Dodge.

I think they are decreasing the size of the fin on <2 mile tracks

Like Keith said, I only later realized that was snapped way back in the HMS tests before the new shark fin rules were announced last week so there's still hope they won't be so monstrously big at smaller/medium sized tracks.

I love the look of the hood flaring upwards on the sides a little bit.

It's hard to tell with the paint scheme, but the body lines and nose are pretty consistent with the new Commodore. I really wish they would do something different with the rear of the car on all of the 2013 cars, at the very least raise the rear fenders back up.

Don't worry, Villnoov will find a way to fuck up, like he always does.

Meanwhile...

Military sponsorships could go away..if: The sponsorships of #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. [National Guard] and #39-Ryan Newman [U.S. Army] (as well as the Air Force deal with #43-Aric Almirola) could be in jeopardy as military sponsorships of motorsports have come into question in the U.S. House of Representatives. The House Appropriations Committee approved an amendment Thursday to the 2013 defense appropriations bill that would prohibit funding of sponsorships of professional sports or sporting events. The amendment, passed by a voice vote and sponsored by Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) and Betty McCollum (D-Minn.), states that: "None of the funds made available in this act may be used to sponsor professional or semiprofessional motorsports, fishing, wrestling or other sports." The bill still needs to be passed by the House and then the provision would have to make it through any negotiations with leaders from the Senate and its defense appropriations bill. Last year, McCollum introduced an amendment banning motorsports sponsorships on the House floor and it was voted down 281-148.(Sporting News and USA Today)(5-18-2012)

Oh, God.

If it's anything like as bad as when the WWE first 'found' Twitter, this will be painful.

Who, by the way, is the congressman representing southeast Georgia, including the Valdosta area. From what I've seen, he's dumb as a brick.

And the whole Twitter craze really should have run its course by now.

Kez was having a "discussion" on Twitter with someone the other day about it, the National Guard spends stupid amounts of money on motorsport sponsorship ($1.6Mil per race with Jr they said) so it's no surprise someone in Congress has picked up on it.

When your Country is bordering on bankruptcy, is it really wise to spend hundreds of millions of $$ on sponsoring a race car?
