Plate will be smaller tomorrow, as well as the grille opening and pop off valve.

Pray that they don't enter JWT in the ARCA race.

Here are the specifics:

Quote:
NASCAR announced more changes for Sprint Cup Series teams after the second day of testing at Daytona International Speedway on Friday. Teams will receive a smaller restrictor plate with an opening of 29/32nd of an inch, down from 15/16ths, to decrease the amount of air intake to the engine. The radiator opening was shrunk from 3.5-by-18 inches to 2-by-20 inches, or from 63 square inches to 40. And the pressure relief valve is now 21 pounds per square inch from the 25psi they used Friday. The top speed in Friday's test session was set 90 minutes into the afternoon by Kurt Busch. He ran a 206.058-mph average lap working in tandem with his regular drafting partner, Regan Smith. Busch hit 210.9 mph down the backstretch, the fastest portion of the track.

This problem is going to continue as long as the bumpers match up.

I always get confused with this whole "bigger/smaller restrictor plate". Somehow my brain reads it as: bigger/smaller restrictor plate is bigger/smaller restriction, which would be the exact opposite to what they mean.

That's still a larger plate than Thursday, I would bet we see around 204mph laps tomorrow which is still cool IMO.

And really, 211mph doesn't seem like a safe speed to be running especially in tandems.

Guess they were doing a preview show for the next UFC PPV and couldn't put it on Fox for whatever reason.

it was perfectly fine in 1986 when the cars would take off at the drop of a hat, it'd be fine now.

But...that wasn't perfectly fine then. That's why they changed it.

189mph qualifying runs and 200mph as a tandem, congrats NASCAR, we are back to were we started.
