lol, Premier lost the feed with half a lap to go. Motorsport coverage has been a joke this weekend.

I have been seeing people on Twitter blaming NASCAR for Harvick not winning... This is the shit I can't stand. I know NASCAR is ridiculous but to blame them for this is laughable. Your driver sped, oops... People on Twitter are litteraly saying it was a sham. I didn't see a photo finish. I didn't see the same team go back to back. Hey maybe a driver broke the fuckin rules and fucked himself.

The Daytona finish is all the evidence anyone should ever need that NASCAR doesn't actually fix results. I doubt a smokey boardroom full of NASCAR fatcats made an elaborate plan to give the biggest race of the year to an unpopular former rageaholic and spouse abuser. But some people just need a conspiracy to explain everything they don't like.

Harvick led 292 laps today and was too fast in one of the pit sectors by .07 mph.

And NASCAR gives every team a 5mph tolerance.

What was the sponsor of that car anyway?

I get your point, but you're not seriously suggesting they'd come up with a fix as dumb as "the title sponsored car should win the first race", right?

Nah, but that's a huge reason for any believer....... Also amazing how Fox, of all 20 cars still out there, chose him to listen to radio talks about fuel savings, that was something, great for my cast for sure.

Anyway, image of the race:

Whilst I hate the idea of 'Stages', I can see a small amount of logic in using them on the plate races, as it means you can't cruise single file for 90% of the race. But what is the purpose outside of plate tracks? It added absolutely nothing to this race. Literally, there was nothing happening in the top 10 at the end of both stages. Why is there this attitude that drivers won't bother trying to go for a win unless it's worth tons of points or a spot in The Chase? If you're a racing driver, you attempt to get the best finish every week. Even if a win is only worth one extra point, nobody is going to settle for second if they're within a few car lengths of the leader in the closing laps. The only exception is if you have a small points lead going into the final races, and second is good enough. Even then, you sometimes see the racing instinct kick in.

Yes, you can score points when you dominate a race, and then have an unlucky retirement, but bad luck is just a part of racing.

The only positive I saw is that the cars looked more on edge. I'll reserve judgement of the latest package once I've seen a few more races, as Atlanta is usually unique with the tyre wear. I have a horrible feeling that the Gen 6 car just sucks for racing, whatever they do to it. Removing the splitter and raising the ride height would surely help a bit more, though?

Yeah but they definitely screwed JPM over in that Indy race he was dominating before he mysteriously sped on pit lane but didn't :whistling:
