Fun race, but i've had enough of this wrecking 75% of the field nonsense. They need to put this type of racing to bed.

Cooled down a bit. In the end, it's still cool to see Regan win. And the finish was just insane no matter how you slice it. I just believe there's a certain point where they yellow flag means nothing. 50 yards from the finish line, when the wreck has already been happening long enough to collect most cars already near it is one of those times. If they had thrown the caution instantly, I'd probably still be upset, but at least it would have matched their "consistence" of throwing the yellow when there's a wreck coming to the line.

What they should do, is look at cars and drivers who are ignoring the yellow and still full throttle through the wreck after the moment of caution and penalize them. That's what is going to injure people. Not the moment of yellow itself. I'm pretty sure that's how Larson's car got thrown into the fence at Daytona. Somebody was still full steam trying to gain positions.

That race was worth waiting three hours to watch, even though darkness shortened the race by a few laps. One of the best Nationwide races at Talladega I've seen in a while (kind of felt like the 2010 Sunday doubleheader all over again, but there was no Cup race beforehand). Adding darkness to the equation made it look much more spectacular and a treat because 'Dega races in the dark are rare.

And congrats to Regan Smith for getting the win. Anyone that thinks otherwise needs to lighten up.

Just let them race back on the last lap. It worked pretty well for decades before.

In all honesty, I think they should be able to race back and drive under the yellow line inside of 10 to go, but I need to be reasonable in my suggestions.

Didn't they let the cars come crashing to a finish at the 2007 Daytona 500 without throwing the flag until the leaders came across the line?

I watched the video the finish. I can't believe Regan Smith was able to make that move. That move took a lot of balls because I think the only two outcomes for him would have been either checkers or wreckers. How he was able to squeeze his car into that small of an area, I'll never know. Kudos to Regan Smith for making that move work. As somebody said earlier, it was shades of Dale Earnhardt. They hit the nail right on the head with that assessment.

Regardless of how I feel about the finish, that was a fucking MOVE at the end there.

Just watched the race on DVR - WOW, classic DEGA, loved it!!

I do not agree with the caution ruling at the end. I mean, come one lets be realistic here with 200ft left in the race would anyone really react to the caution?! Would anyone really think or have time to decide: "oh look, no caution, let me step on the gas and speed through the smoke and debris!" That's BS. The caution was meaningless and ruined a amazing photo finish.

However, that move by Smith was legendary and deserved a win.

Dislike Kasey Kahne. Like Regan Smith. Should feel happy but don't; Kane clearly won and it's just yet another example of why NASCAR needs to let the race to the finish if something happens on the last lap.

Just watched the race. Dega as fuck. The darkness, that insane move by Regan, that 3 wide "finish." Good times. I wish the yellow didn't come out, but I completely understand why it did. The only bummer is that the drivers pretty much admit that they don't back off coming to the checkers, even if there is a wreck in front of them and the yellow is out. That is why the finish line wrecks are so big. Regan deserved that win though because of that awesome move coming out of 4.

Also NASCAR owed Regan this win after that yellow line bullshit from a few years back.

Yes, I am still mad.

I agree nascar likes to play God with its caution timing. Like in 2010 at dega when Almendinger's car was already sliding down the front stretch ON ITS ROOF before throwing the caution and effectively robbing harvick of the win. I get the safety issue of not racing back to the line which is fine and yes the flags should be thrown and lights put on BUT a win shouldn't be dependent on at which exact second someone up in a booth pushes that button. If they wanna freeze the field at a certain point then it should be when the car in question (causing the caution or whatever you want to call it) is out of control and causing a danger to those behind him. You dont have to agree just throwing in my opinion/rant haha
