ARCA reduced the field sizes for the plate tracks to 40 last year. 36 everywhere else. It's still two weeks until the 200, I think they should at least get the 40 they need to fill the field.

Ah part of the NASCAR style downsizing since there really aren't that many teams out there anymore. That sucks.

I imagine with fewer cars they can continue to pay the same amount of purse money.

It doesn't look like Milka Duno will be in the #35 car at Daytona, due to circumstances beyond her control.

http://www.catchfence.com/2014/arca/02/10/milka-duno-likely-sidelined-daytona-arca-opener/

It's a shame that she can't race because of something she's just a victim of.

Clay Rogers is withdrawing from Daytona due to his sponsor pulling out at the last moment.

After Milka almost killed JWT at Talladega then pretty much caused the big one, I can't say I'm upset she's not going to be there.

Looks like Bobby Gerhart is going to place his team on sale on ARCA's classfields section again

According to the article he has sponsorship contracts that require him to race, so he'll be there and pissed.

CBS Sports Network to Televise Live ARCA Races in 2014

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America announced today that CBS Sports Network will televise at least three live events from the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards this year.

CBS Sports Network's coverage, part of its CBS Sports Spectacular programming, begins with the Akona 250 on Saturday, June 21 from Elko Speedway in Minnesota. In addition, CBS Sports Network will televise races from Winchester (Ind.) Speedway on Sunday, July 6 and Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisc. on Sunday, Aug. 24.

"We are pleased to provide additional exposure of the ARCA Racing Series on CBS Sports Network," said Mark Gundrum, ARCA Vice President for Business Development and Corporate Partnerships. "This opportunity is great for the teams, sponsors and fans of the series."

CBS Sports Network's coverage will include some of the series' best short track races, designed to showcase ARCA's exciting action from the tour's "bullrings," including historic Winchester Speedway in Indiana.

"The ARCA short track race events are some of the best each year, and we're excited to bring the side-by-side action to CBS Sports Network's viewers," Gundrum concluded.

I'm going to miss NBCSN's coverage after just one year. Oh well.

But hey, we might have Jeremy Mayfield to look forward to in ARCA driving for Carter 2. Or Bobby Hamilton Jr.

Out of all the TV channels I have, CBS Sports Network is not offered on my cable package. Go figure.

Remember Bobby Hamilton Jr. driving for C2M this year? Not so fast....

Carter 2 Motorsports Ends Relationship with Bobby Hamilton, Jr.

MEMPHIS Tenn. (March 19, 2014) – Carter 2 Motorsports announced today that the relationship between the ARCA Racing Series team and driver Bobby Hamilton, Jr. has been terminated, effective immediately.

Hamilton, Jr., acting on behalf of Precision MotorSports Limited, had signed a contract to drive for the team in February 2014, but was unable to uphold the financial terms of the agreement. Hamilton, Jr. along with his sponsor, St. Louis based Cherokee Charcoal, were equal partners in Precision MotorSports Limited.

Carter 2 Motorsports has been in negotiations with representatives of Cherokee Charcoal this week in hopes of modifying the original agreement. Those negotiations were terminated today and Trussville, Ala. native Dustin Knowles has been named to drive the number 40 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge Charger at the March 22nd “ARCA Mobile 200” at Mobile International Speedway (Ala.).

“I really looked forward to working with Bobby and Precision MotorSports this season,” stated team owner Dana Carter, “I put a lot of money into our team for Mobile and now all I have is a lot of unpaid bills along with a worthless contract.”

Bobby Hamilton, Jr. was unavailable for comment.

Venturini Motorsports will have two drivers making their ARCA debuts at Mobile. Cody Coughlin, who has enjoyed quite a bit of success racing Late Models in the Midwest will be in the #55 car. Michael Self, who has competed regularly in the K&N West Series the last couple of years will be in their #66 car.

Would be really cool to see Coughlin do good, his family name being mostly in drag racing.

ARCA driver Korbin Forrister will attempt to make NCWTS race at Martinsville with SS Green Light Racing in the No. 08 truck.

Josh Williams and Mario Gosselin (ran at Daytona) have tested at Martinsville this week in Trucks, meaning that they'll very likely field one this season.
