Actually only 39 are stupid. Newman and R. Gordon stayed out.

Congrats rgordon. Good strategy.

Doesn't seem that i miss much.

I'm also glad that this was the last race of the season with me needing a stream to watch it.

The only fun part today was Billy Bad Butt, other than that the race sucked.

Not that it's the case, but I'm surprised nobody's said "ohh it's only a rain win", blah blah blah.

I'm of the opinion that whether you win it like Reutimann did today, like Mears did back in '07, by taking two tires instead of four, whatever. A win is a win, and I hope people remember Reutimann's first victory (because people will sure as hell want to forget this race).

Because Reutimann knew rain is on the way and elected to stay out. I have to compliment him on that.

Congrats David Reutimann!

Come and knock on our door, we've been waiting for you; where the kisses are hers and hers and his, three's company too.

I knew the race was in Reutimann's hands once the rain started getting heavier.

Not the best way to get your first win, but his crew chief (Rodney Childers) should get an "atta-boy," too for making that call to keep Reutimann on the track.

Indeed, even Steve Addington thought they would go back racing.

Guess they were wrong on that one!

We had three marquee events this weekend and they all pretty much sucked.

I guess it proves the old theory that the more an event gets by on its history and tradition, the less there is to say, racing wise.

Based on the past 2 weeks I have to say the COT's at Charlotte Motor Speedway suck hard.

But Dover is next up. That track is awesome and always produces good racing, should help us forget the misery of this weekend :)

I've always been under the impression that David Reutimann looks a lot like John Ritter. Might just be me, though.

Sorry if this has already been discussed before by the long-time NASCAR fans, but surely introducing wet tires wouldn't be that difficult? I know that it is dangerous racing on ovals when wet but the speeds would be reduced a lot... but what the hell, congratulations to Reutimann

EDIT: Although I accept that in this case wet tires would be useless given that it was raining extremely hard and now when I think about it an oval with water would cause constant aquaplaning because water would keep running down the banking... I think I just answered my own question

At Daytona, if it rains, run the infield circuit .

I'd just like to take this moment to point and lol heartily at the #18.

Congrats Reutimann.

Not only would the water running down the banking be a bad idea, but also consider how horrible visibility would be. Completely, totally unsafe. As far as ovals go, I could see rain tires working at Martinsville, Richmond, or Loudon when the track is just damp but there isn't any standing water, but that's about it. And even that would be a stretch.

They should be using the rain tires at the road courses though.

Somehow, that's something I'd expect Raphael Sabara to say.
