Reading the comments, from all the studies I've done in my life, this is called Play-off.

If there's anyone that actually deserves to be knocked the fuck out, it's Brian France.

What if WHAT IF...neither Harvick, Lagano, Hamlin, or Newman win Homestead. But what if Newman finishes highest up and leads a few laps. NASCAR is definitely at the peak of their prime.

No lap leader points in the finals. It's position only.

Real talk: What would it actually take to make you legitimately stop watching NASCAR for good?

We've put up with a decade of unnecessary changes to the cars, boring racing, and nonstop Chase bullshit that all keep getting stupider and more convoluted ever year. Is it even possible to quit cold turkey? Are we forever stuck in an endless loop of hating NASCAR for its constant downfalls, but never hating it enough to stop acknowledging it on our Sunday afternoons? Or is it just a "train wreck" mentality: we want to look away, but we have to keep following to sport to see what mind-numbingly retarded situations will happen next, even outright wanting to be there when it all collapses and dies?

I'm enjoying this chase if not for this reason.

It's like watching a Russian dashboard cam compilations. it's stupid but you can't help watching.

So Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray have more net points than Denny Hamlin, who could win the championship?

Fuck Brian France, Fuck NASCAR.

I am watching a lot less, and it's been more enjoyable that way. NASCAR uploading races to Youtube has helped.

basically the broken train mentality for me. it's interesting to see what new low the series can reach every week. for cup races, I usually tune into them in the last half of the race. I've done a good job of not watching any truck or nwide races this year, the only thing I do check is if there were any crashes, which just takes a few minutes

With Ambrose leaving after this year and Gordon screwed out of yet another championship, I think I've run out of reasons to follow NASCAR. Not that a viewer in Australia is going to matter to Brian France.

Seems that dropping viewing figures in America doesn't matter either :whistling:

We'll get the yearly "this is fine, everything is going fine" state of the sport address.

Agree, but did anyone think that sort of thing wouldn't have happened?

Just, Fuck Nascar. All of it. Teams, drivers, owners, series, tracks, fans that don't know better (and that includes us since we watch this bullshit instead of mowing the lawn, reading a book or just sitting on the couch staring blankly at the wall)... Fuck all of it.

The man may have never won a NASCAR Cup title, but he's got 4 ASA Championships he won in the 80s against some of the toughest guys in short track racing.

I used to set Sundays (and most Saturdays) aside to watch the races in the afternoons. I would make it a point to finish whatever I was doing or make it home in time to catch the start of the Cup race. Nowadays, if I miss a race, I don't really care. There's been days where I've gone out to watch trains as opposed to sitting and watching the Cup race. Hell, I didn't even listen to it in the car while I was out, though MRN affilates are harder and harder to find around here.

I think its easier being from europe. The races are usually on in the evening when there are less demands on your time.
Even when I've been going out for a night out on sat night, the race usually takes place before I have to get ready etc.
So putting the race on in the background and eternally wishing it was better isnt hard to do

Post subject:  Re: Fuck you, NASCAR

I've pretty much limited my NASCAR intake to Cup races now. Nationwide and Truck viewing has been reduced to the superspeedway clusterfucks, road course shenanigans, and Eldora. As I've noted a few pages back, it's not even so much Busch/Kez/Logano spanking the field for the millionth time as it is the racing in general just being dull, and in some cases downright terrible. Even when young guys I root for like Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, Erik Jones, Darrell Wallace, etc. shine without the stench of Cup guys pissing on their parade, I still can't be bothered.

Hell, I didn't even realize Chase Elliott had an insurmountable points lead going into Phoenix, because I've literally haven't checked the standings since early June. That's how much I care.
