Michael McDowell post-race interview:

"I can't believe it, just gotta thank God." Priceless.

Yeah, I always have to chuckle when drivers say something like that. Like God is up there pulling strings and causing a horrendous wreck in the third turn so his “chosen” driver will win.
It’s really kinda arrogant as well as being ridiculous.

"Thank God for sending Brad into the catchfence, thank You for Kyle Busch being T-boned, thank for all that flames" yeah, I have the same opinion here

Yeah it's a little silly for some of us, but who, what, when, where, why, and how someone worships is no skin off my nose. Good for a chuckle, but it's harmless.

McDowell seems like a decent enough lad, let him have his moment to praise the bebe Jeezus

Nice to see a former Champcar driver win the Daytona 500 (and before AJ did  )

Ok, he ran 2 races, but still :whistling:

The race restarting at 2:30am my time was the absolute worst case scenario for me. A week of build up for 15 laps and a red flag. :o
I hope NASCAR doesn't see an uptick in ratings and decide that they need to go LATER, not earlier. :slaphead:

I doubt the ratings for the race will be that great with the delay.

NASCAR is the only "sport" in the world where driving like a homicidal maniac and causing massive pileups is not only brushed off by the top brass, but is often encouraged, and, if everything falls in place like last night and 2018, handsomely rewarded.

(That's not a knock against McDowell, I'm happy he won, mostly because "bad race with good winner" beats "bad race with bad winner" any day; that's just a general observation about restrictor plate racing.)

I guess the overdisplay of crashes like that one from Newman last year (and this one where drivers could had left with concussions) shows they do everything for publicity

the point is they will be known less by a series ran by stock car drivers and more by idiots who cannot behave
