Enough with the championship. I'll just look at it as an assortment of race events until the Chase is abandoned.

Someone should calculate it as if there wasn't a chase.

AFAIK with the old points system Earl is the championship leader after Richmond.

That would be even better, no chase and old points.

Hmmm... maybe we should leave that point system in the past then.....

Any of those winning the championship would result in an awkward post season awards banquet at Vegas.
RIP NASCAR

I'm surprised people still think there's even a shred of logic in calculating the current system based on the old system. The drivers and teams approach the season and each race based on the given set of rules and circumstances as the season unfolds. You can't apply a different system to it and think it has any validity.

This.

If I have 5 wins by mid July, do you think I'm gonna run the same from that point on? No, I know that come Chicago, I'll probably be the #1 or #2 seed. All I have to do is stay in the top 10 in points. Use the time to go for wins or test out new stuff. The approach is completely different.

Have an average finish above 15th and you'll be fine with securing a Chase spot.

So one driver that got fucked getting put in is fine, but the other part of the fuck up getting fixed is a joke and bullshit?

Huh...

Grated, the best solution would be to just get rid of the ridiculous thing known as the chase, but Gordon was IN THE CHASE before all sorts of BS began to happen.

How would you feel if that happened to Kenseth Gael?

This will either be the end of The Chase or the end of NASCAR. One of the two, it could go either way.

I would honestly take either still. I'm biased because I'm a long time Jeff Gordon fan, but this whole saga has shown how ridiculous this whole thing is, how inept NASCAR is as an organization and how terminally flawed the chase concept is.

Just start over.

Won't be the end of NASCAR, so hopefully the end of the chase.

Hopefully the end of Brian France's career as well. The man's a clown.

God, I hope Bowyer wins the whole thing. Just to shove it so far up NASCAR's arse it might actually dislodge its head.
