What the fuck?

Might as well not let the teams run with roof flaps all weekend as punishment. :p

It's not favoritism, it just sounds like Hendrick doesn't use those spacers. Sounds like a vendor issue imo

The spacers confiscated aren't the same either. Some look like slices of pipe, while others look like they're spun on a lathe.

I'd watch both races but I work both tomorrow and Saturday. Oh well I'll catch the highlights here and on YouTube.

I've been hearing so much talk on radio and tv about wanting to move the race back to July 4th. More so this year than ever.

I can see two problems with that; fans at the track will have to be at work the next day in case of a rainout and the Nationwide race could fall on a work day.

Run the Nationwide race the night before. If that gets rained out, you get a double header like Talladega a couple years back. And as far as the rain out issue, how's that different than any Sunday race being pushed to Monday?

Are we really worried about attendance at NASCAR events?

Except it's not a race run on Sunday and has the luxury of an extra holiday to run into in case of a rainout, that you would lose. Agreed with your other points.

So that means running the race on a Wednesday or Tuesday sometimes? I dunno how you do thing over there but I can't see that being successful.

Race attendance has been on a steady decline for years.

The race was always run on July 4th, regardless of the day, until 1988.

^^ I'm assuming though that was during the day and not at night? :?

FOX would probably demand the race was at night on July 4th, which gives them less time to get the race in if there's rain.

*Shrug* I'd be for it though, race weekends are usually too cramped as they are :p

Yep, Daytona didn't install lights until 1998.

I would love for a return to a 4th of July raceday with a 10 AM ET start (tho, it would suck for me, but seeing that I get up early enough to watch Monaco and Le Mans, I shouldn't complain about it), but even tho the Independence Day race day looks viable, the start time isn't.

Judging by the fact that a total of 31 roof flaps were confiscated, it looks like NASCAR is going to have a busy week ahead of them in regards to possible punishments.

I don't mind if the race stays a night race and lets face it, Daytona is going to have 1 race a year at night so its pointless to argue that and I'm sure the TV Network that shows it will have some input. But I think moving it to July 4th would be a great thing to do. Many drivers have stated that they'd love to have a mid week race and this would be perfect should the 4th fall during the week. I'm all for it.

As long as it's stays a night race, do it.

That's something I can't say about the Indy500 if it ever returns to May 30th. We don't have those holidays. I wouldn't stand missing that race.
