I am not really a NASCAR fan but how the heck this dog ended up on the car?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogecoin

------------------------------------

1) A user on Reddit's NASCAR subreddit was watching the race at Bristol and saw that the #98 was pulling away from the leader Kyle Busch as Busch was attempting to put him a lap down.

2) Said user then contacted the #98 team (Phil Parsons Racing), asking how much it would cost for primary sponsorship at Talladega. The answer was $55,000. They then made a post on the subreddit laying out why it would be a good thing for them (and Reddit, and the internet as a whole) to get behind a crowdfunding project to put Dogecoin on the #98 for Talladega. Reddit had previously used Dogecoin to crowdfund the Jamaican Olympic bobsled team's trip to Sochi, without which they could not have taken part.

3) Within 4? days of the crowdfunder being started, the target was met, in part thanks to one user who donated $15,000 worth of Dogecoin after he put in one too many zeros.

4) After the Talladega target was met, they did the same again but for the Sprint Showdown, with the aim being to vote the #98 into the All-Star race (one car is always picked by a fan vote to enter the All-Star race).

5) The car runs well at Talladega, gets a lot of TV time and finishes 20th. The Sprint Showdown\All-Star race is this weekend.

I believe that's the basic story. Feel free to correct details if they are wrong.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

To think, in a sport where fly-by-night energy drink/"Fans Car"/Big Daddy's BBQ Sauce sponsor deals go off and completely screw the pooch on some poor unfortunate team, it's the digital currency with a concerned-looking Shiba Inu with a knack for bad grammar and the biggest abuse of Comic Sans since the days of Geocities circa 1998 as its mascot that ends up coming through for the team looking totally legit.

"Wow" indeed.

Yeah. Amazing how a small group of fans from an Internet forum (reddit) can change the way they can get their name plastered on a NASCAR stock car. Highest level of stock car racing, might I add.

Trevor Bayne's #21 car will have a different look at Michigan.

Image

Even though it's not the colors you normally see on the #21 car, I still think it looks great.
