That was a great race. I'd rather have seen Gordon win, but Dale Jr.'s OK. Certainly better than Hamlin or Johnson!

That was a very entertaining race. I think the new rules package for the plate tracks works, as yesterday showed. The cars appeared to be pretty stable in a pack for the most part. Both the outside and inside lines were both able to have success at points during the race. We saw some very entertaining finishes in the last 4 days of Speedweeks and that counts the first Duel race.

Was thinking why last night was a feelgood result.

NASCAR markets the hell out of Dale Jr, potentially fixed races for him in the past, sometimes he makes bonehead moves like Saturday night, (though I contend that was more a mistake upon closing speeds so his intended revenge lovetap got way out of hand ) and he has long periods of competitiveness..

Yet come last night, him winning was still a feelgood result.

I guess through it all he's just a decent guy underneath. A little....lets say, dim, I guess, but a decent guy and talented if given the right equipment.

Not quite sure if this means it's going to be his year, but he should enjoy the moment at least :)

That image of the onboard shot with him saluting the crowd with the biggest smile on his face is one the coolest things I've ever seen in Nascar.

^^^ MAN DAT WAS AWESUM. *clapclapclap*

When I awoke to this, groaned and thought "oh great, they're going to just tear NASCAR drivers a new one and not be funny about it".

Thankfully, I was wrong, and it ended up being decent... the NASCAR stuff starts at 1:40.

Marcos Ambrose, Kyle Busch and David Gilliland were the best ones, IMO.

Sounds like they're reaching. ONLY when they got the warning from NWS, they started evacuation protocol.

I was there… People were going crazy.

I just walked across the street to Barnes and Noble, got a Starbuck's Coffee and read a book.

The cup series had the best racing this year. Trucks were a joke. Busch was a little better.

I would like to see nascar do something about the truck aero package or whatever they have to do to make passing possible at daytona.

Strange, you would think the less aerodynamic noses on the trucks this year would make for a better racing package. Maybe drivers were just playing it safe as they always do with new cars.

The problem with the truck series is more to do with the tapered spacer rather than aerodynamics, it's been tough to make the outside work every year since they have run with the tapered spacer, Nationwide series had the same problem this year with the tandems being outlawed.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone actually knows anything. I've been in a grandstand that was struck by lightning (Syracuse years ago) and guess what, nothing happened. Why? Because the grandstands are all grounded. Your local yocal short track might be one thing, but these big tracks are built right. All the stands are grounded. Lightning hits, goes through the steel into the ground. It doesn't fry the spectators.

Out in the parking lot or the fans on the infield, yes, dangerous to be sure. The only reason the stands were cleared was because the Severe T-storm/Tornado warning moved to include the track.
