One of the best 500s I've seen in a long time. Great win for Dale Jr., but an even better weekend for him because of Regan Smith's win yesterday.

I took one for the team (was struggling to care/stay awake at 1am CET) and slept through this one. It clearly worked, so you're all very welcome ;)

Looking foreward to seeing the replays.

Saw the last ten laps after getting home late from work. Was an okay 10 laps, but I wish I didn't have to stay late so I could've seen more.

Oh well, bring on the V8 Supercars next weekend!

Just finished watching the race now, and what a fucking second half of a race!
Very awesome to watch, and very happy to see Dale Jr. win. That really capped it all off for me, oh and the fact K. Busch didn't win was also great.

Awesome stuff!

Gordon quite clearly beat Keselowski to the line for 3rd, but was 4th when the wreck started happening... I'm glad Junior won and all, but if they threw the yellow and froze the field when the wreck happened way behind them, that's lame.

Either way, this was the best damn Daytona 500 in years. The pack is back! :)

It was a great one. Loved that they stayed green during three(!) spins. Real.

Mike Joy got dementia? Reed Sorenson was a rookie in the 42 in 2006.

Just too bad I wasn't around to experience it live. :(

EDIT: Oh right: Austin Dillon is such an ass! Not worthy of any luck at all.

It was a really good race. I'm no Dale Jnr fan but he deserved the win, he controlled the race throughout.

He did indeed. The fact that switching lanes back and forth when you're up front makes a difference is a bit sketchy, since that opens the door for mistakes... but either way, this was some intense stuff.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone else happens to follow Alfonso Ribeiro on Twitter (the dude who played Carlton on Fresh Prince), but even he tweeted that it was a great win for Junior. I thought that was awesome!

Best 500 I've seen in some time and the most dominant car at a plate track since the CoT came in to existence. Led by far the most laps and could do almost anything he wanted with that car. Didn't luck into it, didn't win a rain shortened one, flat out beat'em. So, so sweet.

Autin Dillon, while making one great save, hit everything but the pace car last night. Boy needs to get the ego in check and learn. You're in the the 3 car. You're not the second coming so settle down.

How do we know the race was great? Even when it was green flag stops all around the racing was good, there wasn't very much single flile racing, multiple grooves and if you had a good car you could hold the lead or even make some passes without help. If we have to have it, this is how plate racing is supposed to be.

Next year... Fuck it, run the 500 Saturday night and move everything back one day. They'll never move it back to President's Day weekend so they need to build in a rain date for the biggest race of the year that doesn't involve a weekday/weeknight. I know I scream tradition and shit all the time, but it's clear that these things are much more racy at the Superspeedways under the lights. With that said, leave Talladega alone.

I did an extraordinary effort not to sleep last night during the last laps of the 500 - NOT because the race was boring, of course not (the race was absolutely amazing, one of the best in the last years) but I was extremely tired...so I have tried everything not to sleep and it was all worth the effort, I loved Jr's win!!!

Actually I was cheering for Jeff Gordon, If we had like more 5 laps I'm sure he was going to get it but I'm equally happy with Dale Jr's triumph. So many years waiting for that (I haven't watched Dale Jr's win in 2004 so I have been wishing to see that moment for a while).

One thing I really like about this is that it seems that this win was about Jr. and not his dad, like everybody and the media made his 2004 win.

A fantastic race with a great winner. Best 500 since 2011, both in terms of racing quality and the winner. Still pumped up about the race.
