If I were in charge of NASCAR, these fans would be getting free tickets for Speedweeks next year. Hopefully these injuries aren't lasting ones.

I think covering all their medical expenses (aside from whatever insurance covers) would be priority #1.

They really need to consider redoing the grandstands for the front stretch of Daytona and Talladega like the backstretch stands at Talladega, up on an embankment and well back from the catchfence, or just remove or close off the lower grandstands.

Still might have been hurt, but still great to see that he had gotten away somewhat.

Well the Daytona grandstands are due for a complete redo in the next year or two.

I seem to recall the artist renderings of the new grandstand complex at Daytona showing that it will resemble the Kentucky design.

It's been blocked by nascar in the states but still works in the UK, I'm told.

As long as they can get the fans moved back away from the track, they can change it all they want.

Maybe an argument to make all the fenceside cameras remote operated like some are?

Double catchfencing?

Plexiglas ?

Plexiglass wouldn't work too well, you have all sorts of unpredictable side effects like sun glare and reflection, plus if you hit anything hard enough it would break apart, oh and the cost of lining a 2.5mile track eeek, risk/reward etc.

Now a second row of catch fencing, twice the height, set about a few meters back from the first row, that might work, would mean ripping out all those prime value seating though...
