That was a great ending. Reminded me of the coca-cola 600 a couple years ago with Mears winning it.

I quite like John Mickel, seems like a nice guy. Just think - it could be Paul Cherry.

That was a good ending to a typical boring Michigan race. Good job Mark.

That was a cool finish. Great that i woke up with 20 laps to go.

Sitting with the sun in your face after Le Mans isn't going to help see through an entire NASCAR race, unless is Tally.

Fuel Mileage finishes are horrible.

How? Would you rather Jimmie Johnson had an untroubled, incredibly boring run to the finish?

May have been a shit race, but atleast it had a good ending.

LOL I'm getting Deja Vu in reverse over our KERS discussions....

Anyway yeah, would've fitted such a sucky race...

I guess I just don't rate worrying over fuel mileage as a reason to tune into racing not matter what time of the race it is at.

Surely you people should remember how much I used to bitch about it in the Champcar threads?

Erm...this race wasn't caution free (4 yellow flags today, in fact).

i never said it did.

however a ton of people bitch about how this race was awful, yet most michigan races during the 1990s were just like this one. one even went caution free

yet in most fans minds every race during the 1990s was amazing

That race in 1999 that Dale Jarrett won that was caution free absolutely sucked. Dale even apologized in victory lane for how boring it was.

Dale Earnhardt was still alive, cars sorta resembled cars (until 1998 when a 4 door was allowed to become a 2 door), they had alot of independants still out trying, wrecks were HUGE, pre-roof flap days, Jeff Gordon flat out got it done, Multi-car teams were in their infancy, Dale Earnhardt flat out got it done, Rusty Wallace and Kyle Petty were actually competitive, a fight broke out every now and then, Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, no contrived chase for the cup, WINSTON CUP, racing back to the yellow, no lucky dog. This list is endless.

I don't remember the last time I saw a Nascar race where the top two cars ran out of gas in the last 2 1/2 miles and the car running 3rd ended up winning.

I don't either. But the finish today reminded me of the 1997 CART race at Detroit when both PacWest cars ran out of fuel on the last lap and Greg Moore scored the win.
