No, you're right. I was equally vocal about Edwards' attempts to kill Keselowski ;)

Or Kyle's flipping out over a racin' deal with Hornaday. :)

Lots of folks conveniently forget James Buescher retaliating for a little rub from Danica by almost flipping her down the Fontana backstretch. A little perspective's all I'm lookin' for, man. :)

Almirola just spun and Johnson got a Darlington stripe. Both are OK, Almirola didn't hit a thing.

But retaliation on big tracks at speed is never acceptable, no matter who does it.

Though Danica didn't get the results in IndyCar, she ran well. She's learning, she's improving, and though I don't completely agree with what she did at Talladega (though I did find it entertaining), it's all part of the process. If she ends up driving and not making any strides and taking up a good ride, fine, I'll eat my words, but she's still doing a good job, and getting an unreasonable amount of flack from people who think they know better.

Is she improving, though?

Her average finish last year was position 17.4. Her average finish this year to date is position 20.9. Last year she claimed 321 points; if her current total so far is extrapolated, she will have 281 after the same number of races. She's not doing any better on the tracks she raced on last year, either; the only result she improved on was at Bristol, which was not particularly difficult as she DNFd last year.

She is qualifying slightly better, and she does appear to be crashing less, but there's no sign of extra speed. Or maybe I'm just bitter because she's stolen Juan's spotter for Saturday night. :p

Trouble will find Juan, no matter who is spotting for him. :p

From watching her onboards on RaceBuddy (TSN doesn't seem to think Canadian fans want to watch Nationwide races every weekend - pff), I've noticed that she's not getting herself into any sticky situations like she did a few years back. She ran in the top 10 all day at Vegas, only to slip outside just as the race was ending.

I know the results aren't there, and yeah, that's pretty much the only thing that counts - but, at the same time, I'm looking at the way Jeff Gordon is running this year vs. his results. It's an apple-and-orange comparison between the skill of those two drivers, I know, but finishes aren't always indicative of just how a driver is doing.

I guess that's debatable, but that's how I look at it, anyway.

On the note of comparing Danica to Tony, Stewart also intentionally spun Kenseth at Daytona one year.

When I look at drivers's off track attitudes, I think of how they have changed over the years. Kevin Harvick was about the same way, came right into the top level and expected respect. Seems he was always picking a fight with somebody. I do realize that I have next to zero knowledge about what actually goes on in the drivers heads, the team haulers, the garage and I openly admit that. All I really can do is watch what I'm shown, (which on Saturday will probably be tons of commercials) and base my opinion on a person off what I see. Like I said, I started off trying my best to ignore the media coverage and just watch her as any other newcoming driver. I hope she would evolve more through her learning process and become more mature. She has the idea of give and take. It's just sometimes when others don't give, she takes. Which isn't always a bad thing.

And I remember Buescher sending her to the wall at California. She was running really well at that point in the race. That was completely uncalled for and several on here made that known. That was Carl Edwards levels of retaliation. But I don't think he's done anything similar since then.

As much undeserved attention as she gets, she is still a driver on the track. And the cameras are always on (sometimes two or three directly on her). As far as her actual driving and results go, I'll hold off on those until the end of the year, after they've gone to a couple of tracks twice. Because, again, this is her first full year in stock cars only.

You hit the nail on the head!

I agree with that fully.

Although being 47th of 47 cars in practice and hitting the wall doesn't help her much. She looks completely lost out there, no consistent line in any way.

If anyone is able to, please post some footage of this. :)

Yeah, 47th of 47 and a quarter of a second off of 46th place.

This race had 17 cautions just three years ago. Probably lucky to get five on Saturday. Can't wait for the 180 lap green run.

This is trial by fire if I've ever heard of it. I think she's done fine so far, for sure, but this place will eat her up. :D

From pics I saw, looks like at least the 10, 48, and 56 got stripes in 1st practice.

Cool to see Cale Yarborough. He looks pretty much the same he did back in 1985.

So Kvapil has to qualify on speed, just so Danica can bounce around off the walls, well off the pace. Awesome.

Ah well. Darlington is one of those tracks that I enjoy watching. A reasonable/good race will be a bonus.

She improved hugely in happy hour. 24th fastest.

Does anyone know what her 10 lap average was? I'd much rather go off that than fastest lap at a place like Darlington.
