That is today's society. People are perfectly okay with a man's career and livelihood getting dashed against the rocks for the use of a word. A WORD. Might as well as send him to the gallows too and be done with it.

But hey, let’s applaud the guy that turns and risks another driver’s life at 200 mph, to win the 500.

If McDonald's doesn't pull out, there's no way he would be fired. But you can't run an unsponsored car these days if you're not a start & park team.

I suppose with no primary sponsor #42 will be shelved when the racing resumes?

Post subject:  Re: Random NASCAR Discussion

Maybe not, those sponsors pulled sponsorship from Larson, not the #42 team. They'll likely sponsor the replacement.

I think some of you are underestimating the damage caused by this. This goes beyond just a word. This is the same sport that had to ask fans to stop flying confederate flags at the track. The same sport that intentionally wrecked Wendell Scott. The same sport that brought drivers and executives to a Trump rally. The same sport that openly said people would be fired if they tried to protest the anthem. The same sport that had a South Park episode parody it about being for people that are poor and stupid.

What other possible outcome could have come from this?

I legitimately don't think that Kyle Larson is a racist (even tho he's one of *those* people). He's just a fucking idiot.

Funny thing is that if someone recorded that in a private channel and then publishes it on social media, I would be a bit more forgiving. But he said that word on a public channel and placed pretty much everyone (including iRacing) in an uncomfortable position. Team and sponsors had to act.

It's good to know that Finlay Farms and Plan B Sales are sticking with him, I don't want to see his career get derailed. Thing is...recovering from this would take an effort that makes Kurt Busch's road to redemption seem like child's play.

He's out of NASCAR, that's for sure. Chevy pulled their sponsorship so unsure how that impacts his Sprint Car team.

Indycar, now's your chance to snag him for a 500 ride. People will have forgotten about this for the most part by August.

Amazing how one moment of stupidity can ruin your career. However, in this day and age, CGR and the sponsors really didn't have a lot of choice.

So, seems like between Suarez, Larson and Wallace, NASCAR's Drive for Diversity is producing some rocky careers. Maybe they need to spend a bit more time on PR sense?

Now the issue is CGR finding sponsors. That's a lotta money they just lost.

The easy exit plan these sponsors wanted, they're all tanking as it is.

They only distancing themselves from Kyle Larson. McDonald's and Credit One are still with CGR. Presumably paving the way for melon boi.

another rumor is pulling McMurray out of retirement, at least for the races that Chastain had already scheduled between Roush & the 3rd "CGR" Spire car

Just a thought: Should Chip have priority on Chastain and want him in the 42 ASAP and Newman isn't back by the time the season restarts, I honestly think Roush should look to Timmy Hill for the 6. He's launched himself to cult status on the iRacing Pro circuit, and I would imagine team owners are willing to at least take a closer look at his potential because of it. Plus, MBM could be on shaky financial ground as a low-budget operation, so Timmy's immediate Cup future might be up in the air.

At the very least, Dale Jr. loves a good underdog story and would probably snatch him up for a few Xfinity races.
