Trust it to take a German to ask about backup cars.

So no, if you crash out on lap 1, that's your day done. People won't race until segment 3 once they've crashed racing for 10th once or twice (I wouldn't).

The segments aren't bad for the networks because they would be able to plan for a commercial break and that should allow them to show more green flag racing.

I'll believe it when I see it. There will still be a ton of commercials during the segments. Maybe instead of one every 8 minutes they space it out to 9 or 10.

What the fuck is this? Is this TBK? NASCAR rolls out the dumbest change ever (yes, even dumber than the Chase that I despise) and everyone is seriously just like, "eh, not as bad as it could have been." Are you all mad? They have quite literally destroyed everything that made NASCAR the powerhouse it once was.

There is nothing left that resembles the sport that made me a race fan.

Don't like the idea of segments. We've seen how segments tend to play out. You're not going to risk it. It won't spice up the action at all. The same old long runs just split into three segments.

It doesn't fix the issues that are down to the cars themselves.

Sounds like a slight move towards a touring car-style 3 sprint race weekend, which I'm ok with.

But if they're smart they'll put GNS and Trucks on between the segments, and invert a random number of starters before segment 3

yea but this looks more complicated than the typical touring car format. the formula works for those series because they put on a good show. i doubt this will change the quality of the racing in nascar.

also didnt they run heat races in nationwide? which turned out to be pointless

It's been a long time since the days of the sport that most of us are nostalgic for. Maybe more people are just accepting that version of the sport is dead and will never be coming back.

What Philthy said. I'm so desensitized to NASCAR's bullshit at this point that I can't even muster a heated rant.

10 years ago, I would have posted--in all caps to the point where it might get me banned--about how BS the changes are.

Now, I'm like "kek, good luck explaining all that to a casual TV viewer".

If they want to know all the point system they are not just a casual viewer. Casual just wanna see good racin'.

On all that shit show, finally they put more meaning on the bonus points that you get during the 26 race streak for the chase. That will get the drivers attention.

Something else not mentioned... 1st gets 40, 2nd gets 35. 36th to 40th all get 1 point. Additionally...

NASCAR won't allow teams to replace body panels during a race, and teams will have additional limitations on crash repair that likely will mean most drivers who have to go to the garage won't return for the remainder of the race.

Ok, now that makes no sense. Incentivize drivers to race harder throughout the race, and at the same time increase the penalty for taking a risk and crashing? That's a great way to make sure the result is exactly the same.

Man...you should see all the drivers lining up on Twitter to pimp the new rules. What a bunch of spineless tools.

Guess "Keep it simple, stupid" went out the window long ago.

Whoever thinks America is bleeding jobs in the manufacturing industry better factor in NASCAR's workforce before they publish their charts and graphs.

I keep thinking it would be an awesome time for someone to write a tome to analyze and document the folly of post-2003 NASCAR, but with each passing year there's so much more fresh and juicy material to add.

The drivers were the ones that wanted the changes so why wouldn't they be happy for them?

Just listen to us Motorsport fourms and take in consideration on what were saying cause it might help a lot to what this fucked up sport has become.
