NASCAR "management," LOL :lol:

In an executive management training course my company put me through, there was a phenomenon spoken of in poor regard. This so-called "slot machine management" was utilized as a common example of how NOT to manage. Essentially, management thinks that some hypothetical "winning combination" exists that will best work for their company/product/strategy/whatever. Instead of carefully considering all aspects of a problem and weighing potential side effects, management simply "pulls the lever" over and over and over again in a misguided attempt to find that "winning combination."

This is NASCAR management in action, pulling that lever again and again, vainly hoping for some magic to eventually happen, but meanwhile pissing everyone else off - fans, drivers, owners, and crew alike.

NASCAR is one of the most poorly managed enterprises in America. Bar none. If people actually cared about NASCAR in the business world, they'd be the butt of jokes everywhere.

Speaking of bad forms of media, I'm not sure what to make of Bob Pockrass's things here. There's some good ideas, but some that make you go "ummm" as well. Plus, I'm not sure how you fix the issues with tv ratings without, you know, fixing the damn tv broadcasts in the fist place. http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles ... cline.html

Every race should not be more than 350 miles, apart from both Daytona races, both DEGA races, Darlington and the 600. But he seems to be okay with the Chase and with the quality of the broadcast, which means he's just another guy not in complete touch with reality.

Think it's time to bump this thread again, with all this random rule change shit NASCAR is pulling in Speedweeks. Is it so impossible to expect a sanctioning body to do their homework in setting the rules before a season, and then stick to them?

here's my plan to fix NASCAR winston cup series... change the schedule like: - 1 pocono - 1 michigan - 1 martinsville - 1 chicago - 1 kansas + 1 iowa + 1 road america + 1 darlington + 1 montreal plus, choice of (most popular wins): + 1 memphis motorsports park + 1 bring back nashville speedway @ fairgrounds + 1 milwaukee mile + 1 new austin, tx road course + 1 road atlanta * don't throw the caution for a crash in turn 2 and beyond on the final lap. * get rid of the stupid yellow line rule at the RP tracks. make blocking illegal at these tracks and enforce it. * stick with the consistent start times and the "have at it" mentality.

I don't think you can fix the "Winston Cup" series without sorting out the feeder series. As long as NNS and trucks are dominated by cup drivers you won't see much new blood in the sport.
