Well, it is kinda crazy that the 19 of Horse Face and the 41 of KuBu don't have one of the 36 charters... but I am sure they'll wind up with the two from Michael Waltrip racing.

So with Monster going to Kurt, looks like the 54 car is finished?

It's a stretch, but Stacy Compton's Sprint Cup debut at Martinsville in 1996? That team qualified 8th but didn't finish the 500 laps.

54 car is gone, they're using #18, #19 and #20 in xfinity now too.

I guess in related news that must mean he's healthy enough to race again.

Looked on his wiki page after your post, and he actually made his last cup race with his own team at Pocono in 2012. So I guess that would count?

Kevin Lepage's run during the 2005 Speedweeks was one of my favorite Underdog stories. Got a top 5 in the Duels and backed it up with a top 10 in the 500. Kirk Shelmerdine a year later and Michael McDowell in 2009 was another shocker. And how could we forget Brian Kez in 2011?

What about James Hylton almost racing his way into the 500 had it not been for a clutch failure. He was what, 72 at the time?

Furniture Row is an example of a small team that DNQ'ed a lot, worked their asses off and got to the point where they're at today. On one hand, I'm sad that that kind of story won't really happen anymore, but at the same time, a little bit of stability with the teams is good for the sport at the moment.

Also interesting to note that Rick Mast tweeted yesterday that drivers and teams BEGGED NASCAR to do this in the 90's.

Yeah, and it didn't happen because NASCAR leadership wasn't full retard back then.

Pretty ridiculous for how long The Wood Brothers have been in NASCAR, they are definitely not going to last long in this current BS.

They're sort of gone anyway. The #21 is now a full blown Penske operation pretty much.

Ty Dillon will run the races in the 14 where Bass Pro Shops is the major sponsor after Daytona.

Quote:
Green-White-Checker finishes become "NASCAR Overtime" For all three NASCAR national series, a race may be concluded with overtime, consisting of a new procedure for a green-white-checkered flag finish featuring an "overtime line." The location of the overtime line will vary by track. After taking the green on the overtime restart, if the leader then passes the overtime line on the first lap under green before a caution comes out (a "clean restart"), it will be considered a valid green-white-checkered attempt. However, if a caution comes out before the leader passes the overtime line on the first lap under green, it will not be considered a valid attempt, and a subsequent attempt will be made. If necessary, multiple subsequent attempts will be made until a valid attempt occurs. Once a valid attempt is achieved (clean restart), it will become the only attempt at a green-white-checkered finish. If a caution comes out at any time during the valid green-white-checkered attempt, the field will be frozen and the checkered/yellow or checkered/red displayed to cars at the finish line
