If he did, that would be his first foray in the truck series if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure all he'd have to do is show interest in any race in any motorsport and team owners would flock to sign him up.Has he ever talked of doing the Indy 500...now that'd be something.

I'm guessing his relief of escaping his last plate race intact would indicate he has little interest in the even more dangerous Indy 500.

Would love to see him run both the Bathurst 12 Hour and Daytona 24 Hour races.

I can see him doing some GTLE (or whatever it is) racing with the Vette's like Little E did years back. Perhaps drive one of the Camro's in GTD. Probably at The Glen for the 6 hours. Perhaps Lemans at some point if he wants to further his charitable work on the international level.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ran the Rolex 24. I think it would be cool.

Am I alone in wanting a driver to retire and just stay retired from Nascar?

I want to see Jeff Gordon get as far away from the dumpster fire that is NASCAR as possible, run some sports cars and have fun.

Rusty did it right.

Ricky Rudd, Sterling Marlin, Dale Jarrett, they all did it right

Bill Elliott, Mark Martin, the Labonte bros., they all did it wrong

Richard Petty and DW, they did it kinda right, although about 7 years too late

You can't win at Indy without a great car and his name isn't Andretti or Unser

Jeff is more afraid of being nothing than he is of being hurt. Just someone give him a drive, won't make a fool out of you.

I'm not so sure it's his fear as much as his wife's. Or am I thinking of Jimmie Johnson? I could swear I remember one of them basically being told by his wife that IndyCar racing is off-limits.

I don't see Gordon between his family and the job at FOX, Stewart said no to driving in the 500 in a Speed Sport interview at the NASCAR retirement announcement (wouldn't be shocked if he was a car owner for a year or 2 though), Allmendinger said no more after he lost his friend JW this year.

I could see Kyle Busch trying the double in a few years though.

Johnson was wanting to race in the 500 for Penske but had to back out after the birth of his first child according to a ESPN article a few years back.

Actually Ricky didn't. He went back and ran the 88 snickers car and it was terrible
