What about the track they have the Chili Bowl Nationals at? The concept of putting a dome over Bristol is not impossible, just really out there crazy :p.

Humans have invented this handy thing called 'ventilation' for such problems.

Bruton Smith just had an interview with Sirius XM NASCAR Radio. I will post the link to it when it becomes available.

Found a radio talk from Smith saying the track will change back to the way it was before 2007, just the track not pit road.

Fucking hell Bruton has some money to throw around. Can't imagine ISC undoing changes to one of their tracks.

We'll see if it actually becomes the "old" Bristol or not. I'm surprised he's going forward with this before his Nurburgring plan, hehe.

I wonder if it'd make sense to keep progressive banking, but just with less range as it is now.. right now it's 24-30 degrees of banking in the turns.. why not like, 28-30 or something.

Nah, you've gotta make them fight over that lower groove for all it's worth. The outside shouldn't even have a fighting chance. That's what led to all the 'Bristolness'.

They need to move the walls in 30 ft and say boys have at it.

Side note, I went to Martinsville last fall, had a great time....mostly thanks to Vickers and I think 20 or 21 caution flags. Very exciting race though. Today I got a "last chance to buy tickets" in the mail for the upcoming Spring race and I noticed their slogan is: "Racing The Way You Want It To Be"

Kenseth passed Harvick for the win on the outside in the 2006 summer Busch race. It can be done.

I know but most of the rest of the time, it was considered almost impossible. That's what makes them more special too. Passing on the outside at Marty was considered impossible, let alone on a guy like Jimmie, but Tony did it last year and I'll probably remember that pass for decades yet most of the artificial side-by-side limbo we saw at progressive banked Bristol will always be a blur.

That move from Smoke was made even more special because that helped him win the championship

So now Bruton Smith is claiming that he had no idea about the progressive banking, but an engineer did it without telling him about it... riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

AFAIK, the progressive banking idea was that of the late Jeff Byrd so it is possible. He probably stays out of the technicalities ever since his son started taking over the reigns anyway.
