I missed it, but apparently Mike Helton said on Sirius yesterday that if the 0.000001% chance that Kyle Busch wrecks every race from here to Richmond happens and he doesn't get into the top 30 then he would be granted a 17th spot in the chase anyways.

I mean he's driven the wheels off the car and has done well, as stupid as it would be for him to be in the same situation as the drivers who showed up every week, he definitely has earned the right to compete...believe me I hate to admit that.

If they give him the Chase spot regardless, it'll be because Kyle has an army of lawyers quietly waiting at the foot of Brian France's office ready to sue NASCAR for the bodily harm caused at Daytona, and they aren't afraid to destroy NASCAR's reputation and go public about it, lest Brian gives him some hush money. Or in this case, hush Chase spot.

Though I imagine it's why he even has any form of Chase waiver in the first place.

That's retarded, he wouldn't sue and it wouldn't have shit to do with his Chase status anyway.

Might it work a little better on a banked track where drivers can run different lines to cut out the dirty air then get the benefit of the tow on the straight? :?

Trying to be optimistic about it because blind positivity is all we have left really.

Well, in fairness, Indianapolis is a terrible track for stock cars because of its single-groove nature. Michigan would be a better test since they can carry speed through the corner.

There's no doubt that this place would be better for it, but it's still a profoundly dumb idea that has no business anywhere.

Unless they were to try it at Daytona/Talladega without the plates.

Put the cars back to their original HP and the low drag package and I think it would be great. High speed corner entry and then heavy handling in the corners. You draft on the straights (these cars will always draft at 200-210) then watch the better handling cars make moves through the center off. The one thing NASCAR fails to realize, the fuckin no ride height rule and any form of a splitter is fuckin retarded. Go back to the fuckin air dam

And please kick Indy off the schedule and add a 3rd road course.

Daytona Beach morons.

The "legacy" of Indy shouldn't overrun the conclusion that this track is not built for stock cars.

Kaufman buys into CGR... not many details other than that very fact, so that could mean anything. Technically, he could own a stake in both MWR and CGR (two teams each) and be completely fine.

It'll be interesting to see what this means for both teams in terms of manufacturer, drivers, etc.

Yeah, Sabates said something to the effect of "I'm not going anywhere until I'm 75" and "we'll be much stronger as a 3-car team than a 2-car team".

So yeah, MWR's looking a little wobbly. I remember after Richmond in '13, people "in the know" were saying "they're going to experience 'shockwaves' from this one for years to come". I dunno about that, but it sure did fall apart quickly for them since then.

I'd be cool with that. The Truck series needs more road courses.

Yeah but the payday ims gets from that one race (something in the realm of over 10 million due to nascars tv deal+tickets, however dwindling) has been bankrolling indycar for years, so I'd rather sit through another dull race if it meant they can still afford to put on 18 decent indycar rounds
