Haha, oh my, I just thought of what'd happen if 43 stock cars plummeted into T1 at COTA. :8:

Precision Performance Motorsports, who has competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in the last several years has purchased the assets of Viva Motorsports which has ran in the Xfinity Series for the past few years. The team is unsure when they will return to the track but could run at Iowa and Watkins Glen with Brandon Gdovic driving

I'm surprised they didn't stick Gray Gaulding in the car, what with his endless supply of Krispy Kreme kash.

NBCSN is replaying old races every evening this week. They've got Homestead '04 on right now.

I saw "Classic NASCAR" show up on my guide. I remembered SunSports, which was our local fox sports affiliate used to show old races but it was always the same stretch of Daytona 500s from like 1990-1998.

Was pleased to see they're actually showing a good variety of "old" races.

Nice to see NBC air some of the older races. They have been good so far for what they have done on coverage this year with the touring/regional series. Just glad they picked up the amount of Modified races on TV again as FOX only did support races to the top 3 series or K&N normally when they had the rights (i.e. New Hampshire, Bristol, Nazareth, Martinsville, Lime Rock, maybe a random race at Thompson, Stafford or South Boston too)

not old enough, I think he is only 17 right now or something like that.

In thinking about this race as it airs.. and the things they are talking about... Winston's last race, NEXTEL taking over, Brian france taking over, Pontiac Grand Prix' on track, Bill Elliott leading, a newly banked and paved Homestead, Wally, BP, and Bestwick in the booth, everyone still trying to figure out this new "don't race to the yellow" and "lucky dog" stuff out... You realize it's like watching NASCAR's funeral. If they only knew then how all that stuff would turn out. They didn't announce the Chase til January I think, so that wasn't a topic yet.

NBC hasn't even aired their first race since being back and they already own ESPN.

Are they trying to hurt the smaller teams or what? Might as well go all stupid and start eliminating teams from racing during the Chase then if they do this. Last time I checked, race fans like seeing cars, going around a track, more cars the merrier.

Now I wonder if this announcement was a conspirational measure by a big team to draw attention away from what was in discussion.

I don't think the outcomes of a franchise/field cap would be good if it does happen, yeah it might insure the mega teams of Hendrick, Stewart Hass, RCR, Roush, Penske, Gibbs, MWR on better financial grounding but we would be getting rid of at least 6 to 8 teams that currently run in the series part time or have a bad season in the next year or so if this happens (Wood Brothers #21, LFR #95, Premium Motorsports #62 & #66, Phil Parsons/Curb/Premium #98, Go Green Racing #32, BK Racing #23 & #26, new teams trying to make a race or 2 or a full season such as the HScott #46, Hillman #39, TMG #30, RAB #29, Beard #75 or a existing team running a 5th car for a rookie driver, such as the Hendrick #25) and would also not allow a current team to expand their operation unless they bought out a other team or franchise license. I would think the purse sizes will shrink overall because of it as well (I think they would focus on the points fund more if this did happen with the field cap). I would think this would make it much harder for a new driver to get a ride in the Cup Series as well because A: most of the seats are locked up (and I doubt a driver would or could buyout a contract of a other driver unless they had some MAJOR sponsorship backing that the car didn't have before), B: can't openly test a Sprint Cup car whenever with a rookie driver to get some seat time unless it's a tire test and the only other way they could get new drivers in the seat is if they did a F1 style 3rd drivers program. Which most teams wouldn't do in my opinion).

However this is still in the opening stages and I some things will be changed
