Switching to Gen 6; that won't be costly at all.

Any details on what exactly they are changing, it's hard to formulate an opinion on just a picture.

edit: Nevermind, now I see, seems like a good cost cutting move and it keeps the cars from looking outdated, don't see how it's a bad thing.

I saw someone discussing the chance of a new body last week, and the body they were talking about (which is this one) is far more expensive than the composite body. So they were either gonna have to cut the cost down on this body, and that means making it up on short track late model bodies, or having increased cost for K&N teams.

I would laugh if Cup guys starting running part-time in the K&N Pro Series because of this.

The gen4 is totally dead now :(

Stupid question: is NXS going gen6?

These bodies wont be required in K&N until 2017 so we will see a mix of gen4 and gen6 for the next two years. It sounds like ARCA will also be allowing these bodies, but not requiring them.

It says not mandatory before 2017 but wont there be parity problems if you run gen4 and gen6 together? Gen4 has a lower cog and more aerodynamic.

This is totally out of left field lol. You'd think they'd update the NW car before touching K&N. I always loved the gen4 and hate to think it'll be gone completely in a few years. It looked very sleek and mean like it'd pounce on you if you got too close.

This is just a body change though, right, it's still going to be a gen 4 chassis just with a new body panels, so it's not going to hurt the racing much, it's not like K&N runs on many tracks where aero means anything. As far as cost cutting, is it just more expensive on start up or over the long haul, it seems to me like it will be cheaper in the long run with them only having to replace damaged panels rather than having to go to a fabricator to put a new body on.

Yea but on the other hand, center of gravity means more at the tight twisty slow tracks the series races and the gen6 is taller than gen4 so I dunno. Guess they'll have something figured out.

"Cutting labor cost by 50%" I don't know how they can make that claim, won't it depend entirely on how many wrecks the driver gets in?

But apart from the giant front spoiler, it looks fine.

I'm ok with this. The last generation looked nothing like a car in the end.

As long as the Xfinity series doesn't go with them I'll be okay.

These bodies will be allowed in ARCA next year on tracks 1.0 miles or less.

Are there any plans to change the car in NXS at some point soon? I know the gen6 might not be the ultimate solution, but the gen5 is by fay my least favorite "gen".

Just talked with K&N driver Scott Heckert and he said the cog isn't actually higher with this move due to the fact that it's the still old gen4 chassis/rollcage and the although roof of the gen6 body is higher, being made of lighter materials negates any top heaviness compared to gen4.

Watkins Glen set to repave after the annual [sponsor name] at the Glen. The Boot configuration will be the first to get repaved, the short configuration set to follow after the Cup race, so this should be done in time for the 2016 racing season.

Sweet, so the 8,000 remaining fans will show up to see the 17 remaining drivers who have yet to maim or kill eachother.
