NEW YORK (AP) - Ron Hornaday Jr., the defending NASCAR Craftsman Trucks champion who is second in this year's standings, admitted using testosterone for more than a year before it was added to the sport's banned list.

Hornaday, who won the Sam's Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway last Friday, acknowledged taking testosterone when shown records from the Palm Beach (Fla.) Rejuvenation Center during an interview with ESPN at his home in North Carolina on Tuesday. He said the growth hormone was sent to his home for his wife's use.

He said he used the testosterone to treat a medical condition that later turned out to be a hyperactive thyroid.

Hornaday provided records to ESPN showing that the drugs were prescribed by doctors at the clinic within a day of his visit. He said he didn't see or speak with a doctor before receiving the prescription, and used it roughly every day for 13 months by rubbing a "pea-sized" amount onto his thigh.

I thought Aaron's was planning on being a part time sponsor, and NAPA was going to continue with Mikey?

Yeah, that's the plan. Aaron's is stepping up to full time in Cup, and doing part time in Nationwide with Reutimann.

I just saw on the ESPNEWS ticker that Hornaday won't be penalized.

I just couldn't see how he could have been penalized.

It's not likely going to happen, just checked the radar. If only Bruton Smith had added lights.. I wouldn't mind seeing a night race at New Hampshire.

Is Atlanta a night race next month, or does that start next year?

Next year I believe. But I wouldn't be surprised if rain pushes the Atlanta race to a night race in a few weeks or at least finishing at night.
