Remember when they ran hobby stocks around Kentucky Speedway with about a 6" wicker on the top of the roof?

Yeah, I went to the first race they had there. It wasn't bad, and it was safer than I thought it was going to be. Not sure if Frank Kimmel still has that going on or not, I haven't heard about it in several years.

Put Larson in the 14 and bring back Mark to the 55.

Wonder if Aaron's will be scared off about this being a recurring thing with Vickers.

They flushed up the grill on the Fusion. New nose on the bottom:

Bigger spoiler? They're fucking retarded if they do this...

Rear bumper vents???

This is interesting though; a stepped splitter.

They should be cutting the spoiler in half, not increasing the size of it. Might make the cars a little more difficult to drive.

If the roof wickers are going to be used, I can actually see where they might need more spoiler to make up for the way the wicker will break up the airflow going over the rear of the car. That being said, yes, the answer is to reduce downforce everywhere. Front and rear. Make these bastards rely on mechanical grip.

Just seems like the roof blade would only serve to make the air more dirty and turbulent anyway. I'm not sure what that would accomplish aside from making it even worse for the trailing cars.

It seems like both INDYCAR and NASCAR have the impression MORE DOWNFORCE will fix everything and make their racing more exciting, when the actual answer is LESS downforce, more power and give the drivers more of a handful to try and wrestle.

Thankfully Indycar is making steps in the other direction now (at least on Ovals, their wings are still too giant for RC's and Street courses), how long will it take NASCAR to learn its lesson?
Will it have to shed a load of fans and sponsors before they get it right?

Probably.

2 generations of "new" cars now and they still haven't worked it out :(

Indycar is good now, thank you. It is not the actual racing that is the problem there.

NASCAR is damned to hell though.

Mikey has not been able to find a sponsor for the #56 and it will be cut to a part-time car next season.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I guess with the rear bumper vents they are trying to help get air on the nose of the following car to try to reduce the aero push one gets when behind another car. In regards to the splitter...IMO, instead of using a stepped splitter, just get rid of it all together.

Here's a novel idea....ditch the bullshit bump stops. Crank up the noses and skirts again, and party like it's 1999.

Oh yeah that would make sense. They gotta get away from these awful vacuum cleaner cars. I know it would never happen, but I'd love to see nascar make the teams open up the grills and ban any sort of tape too.

It's the most obvious answer and I bet everyone in NASCAR knows it but they won't do it because it would drastically cut down on speeds. Gotta keep setting them new track records, right? Who cares if it makes close racing difficult?

It would be interesting to see how much the speeds would be reduced by, if they incorporated these changes.
