NASCAR has issued a statement on the tech infractions at Greenville Pickens Speedway from last weekend. 3 drivers were DQ for a shock issue at GPS and Hickory Motor Speedway last Saturday within 2 hours

I hate rainouts btw, it's like oh, racing season is starting up. LOLNOPE

You have your choice of rainout, or snow/frost out.

Our dirt tracks have cleared the snow off, but I hear word the frost line is so friggin' deep that no one is going to be opening up when they're supposed to. Was hoping to kill two birds with one stone and get home for Easter and Fonda Speedway's opener. Doubtful at best.

I'd settle for getting the season started in late April, I'm supposed to be the second track announcer at Can-Am this year and we start on April 24th with an ESS show.

"We don't give a shit about what goes on at your track, we just take your money and you might get to pay to come to Charlotte at the end of the year. LOLWHOOPS." - NASCAR

The health insurance sounds decent, but other than that NASCAR Weekly sanctioning is such a crock of shit. It didn't used to be, and that's a shame.

That sucks, I know it's worse up there. I am glad that I am down here for that reason (have family that live up north, been to Shangri-La I, Five Mile Point & Thunder Mountain a time or 2). However it sucks as one of my local pavement tracks has a issue of weepers and they will cancel at times when the weather is perfect in the middle/end of summer because of rain that happened a few days before at least. They have canceled the past 2 weeks either due to possible rain (at 90% chance for tomorrow apparently) and weepers from snow/rain that hit weeks before. Although some times I rather have it rain out, considering we race in rain at Charlotte on the quarter mile as long as there is no lighting in the area or if the Busch garage area isn't flooding

Pretty neat video of the abandoned Metrolina Speedway

Passed by this place earlier today while I was working. Had downtime between jobs and decided to see how close I could get to it. Front gate was unlocked and stands were wide open. You can walk out onto the track unobstructed. The sign by the entrance has been taken down since that video was posted.

Nice photos! Shame that the track couldn't stay open in the late 90's. They had a few years of running motocross after they stopped running the 1/2 mile and there was 2 different projects on trying to reopen the track, one apparently in 2005 and then a 2nd one in 2009 that was supposed to reconstruct the entire complex with making the dirt 1/2 mile into a Irwindale style pavement 1/2 mile and they would have added a hotel, off road track, RC car tracks and kart tracks or something like that. They even had a TORC Series date but the project ran out of funding pretty quick around late 2009 or 2010.

Speaking of the old entrance sign, Dale Jr tweeted this today, he is currently restoring it.

Hearing somewhere that the budget for the upgrades to the New York State Fairgrounds was approved, so unless something drastic happens it looks like we will be loosing the "Moody Mile"

Psh...if Ricky Bobby can drive with a Fig Newtons decal on the windshield, I'm sure you can manage with a hood in the way.

If you'd like to enjoy watching me pile into a stationary #6 car please skip to 1:40.

Got run over by the 4 car of Brandon Lynn and cut down a LR tire.
