Most important detail: I see no mention of them throwing "Mikey" out of the commentary booth.

Opportunity missed. :(

How this seems to be working is that the 50 point fine to all MWR drivers would have happened at the completion of the race and before the chase reformatting. Thats why Truex is dropped out and Newman in. Bower will still keep his status after the reformatting but since 50 points didnt drop him from the chase hes staying in.

Complicated, but thats why Gordon didnt benefit from this. Which is annoying because I hoped that somehow it would. But this is exactly the statement NASCAR needed to make, even if it wasnt perfect. I hate it for Truex because I really like him but manipulating the championship like this clearly isnt tolerated.

Manipulating the championship. What a load of bullshit.

Nascar must have the throttle and brake telemetry of the 15....they MUST.

Hermie Sadler brings up a great point on PRN; MWR appeal? How the hell would that work?

So glad they finally grew some attachments. This should certainly dissuade future shenanigans of the same sort.

Like mentioned already, atleast his ass kissing will go down a notch. ;-) He sounds like he's trying to sell NASCAR rather than talk about what's happening in the race. Oh, how wonderful my sport is, I love NASCAR, five trucks going for the win with 10 to go, slobber, slobber.

Gordon isn't happy, can't say I blame him. Especially since Bowyer isn't actually penalised at all.

Hey look a Toyota driver kissing Waltrip's ass (he deleted this tweet btw):

Kissing ass? He's spot on. These guys have more races to get in the chase than every series has in their entire season. Don't put yourself in that position.

Yeaa saw that, most people pointed out that Newman had been about to do just that.

He had tweets that defended Waltrip but deleted them along with that one.

First time in a VERY long time I haven't been able to find a good response for something. I really don't know how to take this, and kind of makes me ashamed to be a NASCAR fan that any of this is happening.

I will say that none of this would happen if we had the old points system.

No need to run. Well, at least not from me.

So they have penalised MWR quite heavily for something that they are inconclusive about?

Good job.

Mikey should appeal and get those penalties whittled down.

I fully agree, get rid of the chase. Who cares if some ties up the championship before the final race. It happens.

Wasn't the 56 also in "that position" because he and his team didn't make the most of their first 25 chances? Basically, according to his logic, don't put yourself in a position that is vulnerable to manipulation unless it's to your benefit.

So what does that say about the team who after 26 races still needs to pull shit like this to get into the chase? You can't call the teams that lost out here not good enough but not apply that to the team that resorts to this to beat them.

It's the truth. All of this is almost exclusively a byproduct of the chase.

Allegedly, someone left these signs in front of the MWR shop today:

I used to like Michael Waltrip, 10+ years ago, he was always funny on Inside Winston Cup with Bestwick/Schrader/Benson. Now I can't stand him, between his poor attempts at cheating, and being a complete shill... What happened?

I know teams cheat to get an edge, and as much as I hate Johnson/Knaus, when they cheat and get caught, it just doesn't seem as pathetic as when MWR does it.

Chris and Philthy, I understand what you're saying and I agree to a point. All of the guys on the edge have missed chances, but I don't understand NASCAR penalizing a team for being shrewd when they've created this situation by allowing too many drivers into the Chase, or really even having the Chase at all.
