Please be true. That Charger was tits.... Still think it'll be RCR and/or EGR.

Dodge heading back to NASCAR soon? Ray Alexander, on hand for the LX-centric Spring Festival 8, reported that Ralph Gilles told him that NASCAR funding has been approved, and that Chrysler is talking to teams. While no details can be provided, because of the sensitivity of the negotiations, this is the first time a Chrysler official has confirmed that the company is working on a NASCAR re-entry. Last month, Mr. Gilles told Allpar in New York, in answer to a question about NASCAR, "Oh my God, I can't talk about that right now. No comment on that." Chrysler's return to NASCAR presumably remains contingent on being able to sign up competitive drivers and support crew (e.g. car and engine builders).(allpar.com)(4-22-2013)

Safe to assume Fiatsler never really stopped working on finding a Cup team for re-entry ever since Penske dropped them. I really hope it's RCR. Why play second fiddle to Hendrick when you can grab life by the horns?

Yea. It's especially ironic that Mark Donohue made most of the history pertaining to his book, 'The Unfair Advantage', at Penske.

NASCAR puts group qualifying in place for Sprint Cup at road courses.. hell yeah!
Quote:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Sprint Cup Series will begin using a new group qualifying procedure for road course races, beginning with the June 23 race at Sonoma Raceway.

Cars will qualify in groups instead of the traditional single-car runs held on ovals.

The new qualifying rules are as follows:

• Cars attempting to qualify will be divided into groups. The number of groups, and amount of cars in each, will depend on the number of cars that practice for the event.

• Group assignments will be based on final practice times.

• Each qualifying group will be on-track for a set period of time, determined by the series director.

• A car's best lap time during the group session will be the qualifying lap time of record.

• A group's time begins when the first car receives the green flag at the start/finish line.

"The change will add an exciting element to road-course qualifying," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition. "Fans will be treated to new strategy and increased competition with several cars on track at once."

The Cup series races on two road courses, Sonoma and Watkins Glen.

Speaking of road courses, is there any word on if NASCAR told Goodyear to develop rain tires for the Gen 6 car? The CoT was off limits for rain tires, but with the downforce of the new car, surely the best in NASCAR can manage to race in the rain... Especially if the their less talented, up and coming busch league drivers can.

And we need rain tires for every series.

Valentino Rossi turned 30 laps in a JGR Nationwide car on Monday. His fastest time was about 6 tenths off of what Kyle Busch ran there. Perhaps a one-off start in his future?

I read earlier this year he said his window of opportunity for F1 has closed; would love to see him in Nascar.

Seems a bit like a forced retraction, why would Gillies even be talking about funding for the current season in that conversation? Maybe just wishful thinking but I think he said too much and had to find a way to explain it away.

Kenseth's engine fails post race inspection: The engine in #20-Matt Kenseth's race-winning car from Kansas failed inspection at NASCAR's Research and Development Center. NASCAR officials were discussing Wednesday what penalties to levy against Kenseth and Joe Gibbs Racing, multiple people familiar with the inspection told the AP on the condition of anonymity because no decision has been made. The engine failed because one of the connecting rods not meeting the minimum weight requirement. Kenseth drove the #20 Toyota to his second win of the season Sunday in Kansas. It is standard procedure for the race winning engine to go back to Concord for a thorough inspection. The JGR engines are supplied by Toyota Racing Development out of Costa Mesa, Calif., but NASCAR would hold the team responsible for any infractions.(Associated Press)(4-24-2013)

Harsh but I agree. What kind of message are you sending? Hey I can have illegal parts but still win? I don't care if this was Kez, Gordon, Johnson, Kyle, Tony, etc. DQ should be the punishment.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Jeff Gluck from Twitter reports 50 points, $200,000 fine and six race suspension for the crew chief.

On top of the points, fine and suspension that Gluck got right... NASCAR also stripped the 20 team of the pole. Which would have put the 20 in the Sprint Unlimited next year.
