So in the space of an hour NASCAR has managed to offend both the Indy 500 and the Le Mans 24 hours with some ill-researched comments.

Kudos, NASCAR. Why don't you try and say F1 needs to stop racing Monaco during wet conditions like MOTORSPORTS LEADER NASCAR and go for the hat-trick.
