For me the best ovals are Michigan, Fontana, Talladega, Indianapolis and New Hampshire. Wanted to vote for Pocono and Daytona aswell but then it would be more than only 5.

Dega's lost something since the repave. It'll get my vote once it 'cures' for sometime. :) Still enjoy watching the wrecks there in the meantime, but not so much the racing as much as at Daytona.

I think the Talladega repave made things exciting there once again. Every series, in my opinion, should have at least one race each season in which every driver in the field has a chance to win. Talladega brings that to NASCAR. Michigan and Fontana brought that to Champ Car.

I mean if it wasn't for Talladega, we would never see people conetend for a win like Regan Smith, Paul Menard or Furniture Row Racing. Daytona is getting a repave either next year or for 2011, so you can expect races there to be like Dega as well, with no handling characteristics whatsoever.

Who could ever forget the last Michigan champ car race where Jourdain and Herta, both driving for suck ass teams at the time led in the final laps before losing to Carpentier who at that time scored his first win. Kanaan got his first (and I think, only) Champ Car win at Michigan driving for not the best team in the paddock.

I pick five tracks that are different from all the other ovals. I went with Chicagoland, Pheonix, Martinsville, Pocono and Darlington. Today most of the tracks look exactly the same, but these fives all have unique aspects. Chicagoland has two curved frontstretch and backstreatch. Pheonix has a triangle shape with the tri-oval part in the backstretch instead of the frontstretch. Martinsville is paperclip shape with really tight turns, Pocono is a triangle with three compleatly different turns. And Darlington is a Oval with two turns with compleatly different angles and banking. I wish we had more of these kind of tracks than more California's Texas, and Atlanta.

Daytona
IRP
Montreal
Talladega

These four tracks get the nod from me.

Daytona-obviously, the World Center of Racing. Once the potential repave has taken place, I think the racing will be better.

IRP-This is FTW. IMS just isn't great for NASCAR, but IRP is. Lots of multi-groove racing that leaves you in the edge of your seat. The Trucks race in July is a clear example of this.

Montreal-I'm telling you, if you want to watch a race where nothing but pure comedy will ensue (see the TBK Shit of Shame), then Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is the place for it (OK, not really). Honestly, Montreal is a great track for the Nationwide Series, and someday Sprint Cup should have a race up there.

Talladega-No explanation needed. The best racing of the year always comes from this track.

Daytona, Talladega, Darlington, Rockingham, and Indy Raceway Park.

If Nashville Fairgrounds was on this poll instead of Nashville Superspeedway, that'd get a vote too.

Bristol : I just love how close they keep themselves from each other with that high banking
Charlotte : I really liked this year's All-star race, so :p
Daytona : Classic restrictor plate racing, although Pat and Jacques didn't make it to the race last year
Infineon : They never use 4th gear, yet they pull out a great show every year
Montréal : Need I say more ? :p

Voted:

Richmond (Great short track racing. Frankly, it's ridiculous that there are only 3 short tracks on the Sprint Cup schedule.)
Talladega (Intense, sometimes crazy.)
Dover (Unique, narrow track with lots of action.)
Darlington (Another unique track and without the few that are still left over, NASCAR would be a lot more vanilla.)
Rockingham (I miss place track more every year. This was another track with its own personality.)

Infineon, Bristol, Daytona, Charlotte and Martinsville are the rest of my top 10.
