It makes me wonder if he'd even been injured in the previous generation of cars. These damn things are so rigid, when you see one destroyed like the 43 on Sunday, you know he took one hell of a hit.

And you can literally see the thinking behind it:

1. "We have made these cars really fucking expensive."

2. "When they get damaged they are really fucking expensive to repair or replace."

3. "What's the best way to reduce the cost?"

4. "If they are constructed in such a way that they don't get damaged, then they won't need to be repaired or replaced thus saving money."
