According to Christian Horner the teams voted yesterday to stop handing out penalties for track limits & allow drivers to use all of the track available to them because drivers running over kerbs & pushing beyond the limits is in the strategy group teams view more spectacular.

Charlie apparently rejected that proposal & track limits will be as they were last weekend, If you ping the pressure sensor they have in the kerb at turn 1 during qualifying your time will automatically be removed.

No no no Mr Horner.

I want to see use them all the track, but if they use too much of it, I want them to see being punished. Whether it is a spin, a crash, trapped in gravel, grass, dirty tyres etc.

That's what I want! Not curbstones that are as flat as the ocean so they can use it, not tarmac run off areas when making mistakes does not cost you a thing.

Attendance was spiraling hell bound well before the new engines were introduced, one of the the German tracks said it was his fault, being so dominant when he was at Red Bull.
I've seen it said before that the decline started after Schumacher retired the 1st time as he was the reason many German's started following F1 to begin with.

Of course it's probably never occured to them the 'product' is just crap overall, there's not one thing that can be blamed.
Is it really that bad though?

I can think of other years that i've felt were worse & enjoyed less. 2002/2004 for example where you had a dominant team with a clear #1 & therefore no title fight between there 2 drivers..... That on top of driver aids, refueling & well under half the number of overtakes that we see today. While Mercedes are clearly the best team/car right now & are most likely to win every weekend at least we have a battle between there 2 drivers who will likely take the title fight down to the final few races.

It's a perceived value for money thing, for the same cost of going to the British GP for me alone, our whole family can have unlimited entry to 4 big theme parks and 27 other attractions for a year, when money is tight I'm never going to pay to sit quarter of a mile away from the track for a two hour event when for slightly less I can have a years worth of entertainment, simple economics.

On the Autosport.com live commentary it made mention of Jenson complaining about high temperatures in the cockpit. Not sure if that is related.

They just mentioned that he wasn't burnt, which has happened to him before, or been electrocuted.

Considering Button's level of fitness it'd have to be bloody hot in their to send him to the medical centre.

Do you mean the car is so fast now it gives its drivers eye irritation from relative wind?

He has since tweeted that a 'foreign object' was found and removed, and that he is fine for the rest of the weekend.

Yes, this is pretty much why halo isn't coming next year, if at all.

Hockenheim was also forced to make expensive and major track changes in order to keep the GP. That and the fact they pay so much for the privilege of running a GP really pushed up the ticket prices and now less people are willing to pay it. As people pointed out, once Schummy retired the first time, the interest just wasn't there any more.

Now grandstands have become huge Rolex billboards.

No that's the thing. They didn't have to change a thing, Bernie was happy. It was an egomaniac project by the county government. There's a brilliant documentary on it, albeit in German. That's what makes this butchery and the resulting financial problems that track had ever since then even more annoying. They inflicted it themselves, without any necessity.
