Action soon, hopefully?
If this was red flag period in qlf or race, we would now see sweeping trucks and hot-air machines on the track.

Autosport said: 13:52 A bizarre sight - there is pretty much a straight line across the track after Turn 1 where the circuit goes from wet to dry.

Anyone got a pic?

Rosberg had a very fast lap going until sector 3, and wow that was a moment for Vettel.

It reminds me of Hamilton's one in Q3 in 2014.

sideways into the gravel, no sickening series of sidewinding snap rolls.

Bring back gravel

You mean he stopped in time and didn't slam into the barrier heavily?

CRAZY! THIS GRAVEL STUFF APPEARS TO WORK!

With all the talk about them re-using the remaining part of the old layout I just noticed from the heli-cam that at turn 2 they have built an extra bit of track behind the barrier that looks like its going to be a chicane to slow cars as they rejoin the new bit of circuit coming off the old layout.

Something like this maybe?

Okay you guys are being sarcastic about the gravel trap, but its layout in that corner is no different to the new layout on newer tracks, and it's actually similar to all the other corners of tis very track including the infamous turn 8:

- Tarmac for the first half of the run-off, to allow the car to slow down instead of hitting the gravel at speed,

- Smooth gravel on the second half, to stop the car before the wall if it's stills carrying speed.

And there isn't even grass/gravel on the hairpin exit. I agree on the idea but you're all praising the wrong corner and showing that the modern design works very well, lol.
