I was sat in the open grandstand in front of turn 8 and watched this happen. JV did the same later in the race also.

They had to add some tarmac and remove the astroturf for MotoGP. Not F1's fault for once

The run-off area at Jochen Rindt with gravel was already so large, that I don't recall anyone reaching even near the wall. Just as unwarranted as most of Hungaroring tarmac areas. Here's one of the "biggest" offs:

And we saw at Barcelona that MotoGP is better off with gravel.

Andrea de Cesaris loved the wet grass at the old track

if they keep going with this, is better to leave on track action without investigation, even if it's deliberate crashing

Yeaa, that tarmac did nothing he was better off tumbling through gravel.

All this worry about gravel hurting riders if they fall off... how often was a rider hurt by tumbling through the gravel?

Dunno, but as a start perhaps ask Wayne Rainey, Sete Gibernau and Valentino Rossi

Yes, ask them, because you can't ask from Luis Salom.

Indeed so. Neither tarmac run-off or gravel is a foolproof solution and freak accidents will always occur. Would you agree?

Catch fencing for the win......in all seriousness for Motogp I've always thought they should have a series of inflatable hay bale type things in different layers on the fast corners.

"The yellow curbs are dangerous". More dangerous than grass?
-> FP3 the curbs are gone so it's easier to go wide and return without cost.
