the problem is that they never tested the floodlights under rain, but I guess drivers wouldn't be able to see under rainfall so is immediate red flag

but wet track is no problem at all, even with back spray racing conditions would be fine, so they should turn sprinklers on halfway through the race

Could be the race where Renault announces they take over Lotus. It could be the race where Red Bull unveil their engine plans.
It could also be the last race for Lotus and Renault as the deal falls through, Lotus goes bust and Renault quits F1.

Once again Lotus are in a race with the scrutineer - as of this evening, their equipment had not turned up.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

they could at least water the track halfway the race by surprise, since this a farcical race

Serious question springs to mind: has the eventuality of rain during a night race been considered, and what is F1's stance on that? Immediate red flag, or they just keep going with all the glare/reflection until it's judged un-driveable by race officials?

I would understand that, some of the most uncomfortable situations in my life involved highway night driving on wet roads - not even during the actual rainfall.

Well I can't remember the specifics but all the night light testing was done at Paul Ricard and I'm pretty sure I read they turned the sprinklers on to test visibility, so finding those reports might shed light on the subject.

So the same as when it rains during the day, basically. :flag:

And Bernie has paid some of Lotus' bills to ensure they are on the Abu Dhabi grid - http://m.autosport.com/news/report.php/ ... dhabi-bill

Poor Tamara must be wondering where her next plastic surgery is coming from now. Well at least the money went towards fixing a nose[/MaldonadoCrashJoke]

Bernie is desperate to keep them on the grid. I can't imagine other poor teams being too happy about it. He didn't really save Caterham or HRT....

It's probably more to help Renault and get another manufacturer fully on the grid than anything else.

then, Bernie will have the right to appoint the team principal, that will be Flavio Briatore

With Renault due to be returning as a works team for next season, Maldonado would like to believe it is the last time he and the staff will have to endure such a tough start to a weekend.

He's probably right, there's nothing enduring about watching a grand prix from the sofa.

He probably does it to keep Renault on board. Who I still expect to walk at the end of the season with RBR taking over the designs and handing it over to Mario Illien to actually make it decent.

Money can buy you the final round of the year at a track that should have been a lot better, but not bums in seats.

Was Palmer chosen for the Lotus/Renault based on talent or money? The guy did win a GP2 title, so he can't be that bad?
