Both Ferrari's have a 10 place grid spot penalty for taking upgraded power units.

Beginning to look as though moisture from Hurricane Patricia will extend the rain event through Sunday. NWS currently estimates between 7 and 10 inches of rain for Austin between now and Tuesday.

Interesting to see how the weather will affect the weekend. What I hope is that the conditions will not change from hour to hour so that there's no reason to delay any session and wait for a better moment. Just deal with it or cancel the whole thing.

This is f1, if we get Petit le man's level rain it'll be a sc only race

Which is fine as we can go watch DEGA instead

Forgot Dega is on this weekend, something to have on in the background whilst the F1 goes round in circles behind the SC.

I was reading an article earlier in the year that suggested part of the problem they have with driving in the wet now is that the Pirelli inter's/wets are nowhere near as good as they should be & have a much smaller working window when compared to the Bridgestones.

One of the biggest reasons is that Pirelli have had very little wet weather testing, Especially with the current spec cars.

They've had problems with driving in the wet for much longer than that, stop bitching about Pirelli. Do you work for a competitor or something?

if it's raining in Austin, isn't it possible that it will rain in Talladega as well?

And the difference is, F1 can drive in wet.

Was halfway through typing the same thing.

Honestly don't think stef will be happy until the return of refuelling, grooved tyres, traction control, single lap qualy and everything else that blighted the sport ten years ago but was the way it was when he fell I love with the sport so is the way things should be

But if we're all going to bang personal drums and present an agenda then I'll argue that the lack of gravel traps means the tracks are so much more dangerous in the wet with tarmac runoffs allowing cars to skid directly into barriers without being slowed down is the reason why f1 is scared of the wet these days

Also if they were running 90s era cart cars then they'd definitely have the bravery to run in the wet, but only after jason plato is forced to retire and the front end of newman's car is torn up while something bigger is happening on track.

Itt we only post personal sterotypes. Now over to fabs for a weather report and then Tristar can post 20 drunk posts in a row

while it would be possible, the forecast for Talladega is showing that it will be clear/cloudy all weekend with rain hitting on Monday

Yeh F1 can drive in the wet but only when safety reasons let, and ofcourse Charlie.
He will wait until its completely dry like always. If not then red flag

let's be fair and agree that F1 can drive in drizzle or worse, and that Nascar or other oval racing (because of safety, I know) has to red flag when a bird shits on the racing line.

I read a while ago that they have never produced any equivalent to the old monsoon or extreme wet tyre, partly due to the lack of suitable testing and also due to the resulting costly guesswork. Whilst the drivers and FIA are on a massive crusade against rain, it is also the case the more drivers complain about 'undriveable' wets than they did with Bridgestone, Michelin or even Good Year.

I look forward to this race a lot. The element of unpredictability, the ferraris starting midfield, a half decent track and a late evening race. Bring it on 'Merica!

10 place grid penalty for using a 5th engine.

MotoGP in the morning, nothing in the afternoon so I can actually enjoy my day, and F1 in the evening. Every race weekend should be like this.
