Pirelli apparently told teams the tyres could do 40 laps.

Perhaps they can, if used correctly.

Probably worried about being underweight after all the poos that came out when his tyre exploded.

Did Alonso pass 5, 6 cars there?

Bit late, but I think he passed at least 106 cars at the start :p

so they can afford to lose 55 positions at the start, better use a new engine at each race

Vettel is a stupid little shitstain. What does he expect, rubber wears, he was completely off the road at Eau Rouge almost every single lap. Tyres would have taken a beating over 27 laps and over time will effect the structural integrity of the tyre. Glad he finished out of the points too just for his little strop after the race.

Unfortunate again for Pastor, had good pace and the car crapped itself on him again. I know he drove like a drip for the past few seasons, but he has had some rotten luck this year.

The problem for me is that I don't believe the tyre should totally fail without warning just because of wear, There should be some warning that your reaching the end of a tyre's life before it just fails.

Think back to China a few years ago where Lotus pushed things too far with Raikkonen by trying to stop 1 less time than the others, He reached the so called cliff & was something like 6 seconds a lap slower & the tyre didn't fail. That is what should happen, You should reach a point where you wear the main compound & get down to whatever is underneath which causes performance loss before you reach a point where the tyre fails totally.

Its not as if Vettel had reached a point where the tyre performance was gone, He still looked to have good grip & his lap times were still good with Grosjean not exactly crawling all over him. There was nothing to indicate his tyres were anywhere near the end of there lifespan & that to me is the problem.

If there was another issue such as a cut caused by debris then fair enough, But if it was a failure caused purely by wear without any warning than that isn't really acceptable as far as i'm concerned.

Here's are Vettel's lap times over that final stint:
Spoiler:
1:56.128
1:56.184
1:56.008
1:56.115
1:56.348
2:22.634 – VSC
2:04.049 – VSC

1:55.765
1:55.856
1:55.551
1:55.316
1:55.523
1:55.432
1:55.443
1:55.497
1:55.761
1:55.884
1:55.711
1:55.520
1:55.696
1:56.407

Who says it was because of how long he was running? You're all just assuming.

Exactly. He could have gone over some debris. It's not as if the drivers weren't going all over the run off areas as usual.

Or the teams could have been going against Pirelli's recommendations again.

maybe excessive stress due to kerb abbuse, it was the same tire that suffered failure with Rosberg

shows how little goes on in f1 nowadays that all we have to talk about is a puncture

It just reeks of the usual hypocrisy for a team to immediately throw pirelli under the bus for a problem that no one knows the true cause of yet.

But then it's our own fault for expecting f1 teams to change their modus operandi.
Blame pirelli first....get the truth later when people aren't quite as interested
