Sounds like Sauber got exactly what they wanted...Wait till this absolute last minute and have it delayed..Sauber can now pin it on the FIA in court.

Question now is have they done enough to satisfy the judge, or is the CRB contract issue is seen as a critical breach and hence contempt

This is the first time in 16 years since I started watching F1 the season will start with such uncertainty and chaos.

Melbourne used to be the ideal start for a new season : the location, the atmosphere, the scenery, almost everybody in the paddock eagerly to get the first race underway.

I can't help but feel we'll get distracted by off-track events once again while Mercedes just runs away with it and leaving everybody behind to fight for the title "best of the rest"

Rosberg blew his chance last year for clinching the title and that was probably the best shot he's ever going to get to become champion. He's a good driver, but he just doesn't have the raw talent Lewis has and he can play mindgames, change the way he breathes, crash into his teammate on purpose and park his car in Q3 in Monaco to secure pole all he wants, he's not championship material. Build up the pressure and he makes stupid mistakes that cost him dearly.

Only a Nicole-comeback to mess up Lewis his mind can save Nico.

Lastly, I have renewed sympathy for Ferrari now Nando is gone, Vettel and Kimi will make a great pair. Alonso will be kicking himself now that Ferrari has built a way better car and by the time Honda will finally get their act together, he will have retired from the sport several years. Also, what was the real deal with the testing accident ? It just doesn't add up... Button is a nice chap, but the main reason he remained at McLaren was his previous partnership with Honda. Now we'll see what he's really made of. Massa has refound joy in his life and will move Williams further ahead with Bottas ready to clinch his first victory and become the new Flying Finn. Lotus can't possibly do worse than last year, so things can only get better for them and with a Mercedes in the back, at least they have the power. Grosjean has learnt from his mistakes and erratic driving and never a dull moment with Pastor around. Perez doesn't learn from his mistakes and needs to settle down and has to make sure he doesn't have more coming-togethers, especially with his favourite victim Massa. Hulkenberg is a driver you can count on : quick, reliable and always good for points if the car delivers. Sometimes he reminds me of Heidfeld, but Nico is better in the public relations department. Has Ericsson done enough in 2014 to extend his stay in F1 ? Probably not, but money says otherwise, so he gets a Sauber-seat while Nasr brings 15 millions thanks to Banco da Brasil. He did okay in GP2, but F1 might be a little out of his league. Both he and Marcus are welcome to prove me wrong. And van der Garde ? Well, no offense, but if Nasr brings 3 million more than you do, it's not weird Sauber are looking for financial security. Even though it wasn't a classy thing to sack Giedo like that, let's face it, if his father-in-law wasn't swimming in money, he never wouldn't have gotten near an F1-car and still be in GP2 where he didn't actually set the world alight either. Verstappen is young, but he's mature and learns quick, so let's give him a chance. He might become a sensation and with the Toro Rosso he couldn't be in a better team to make his debut with an actual chance of points here and there. Same goes for Sainz Jr. He was dominant in WSBR last year and will have a fight on his hands with Max. Looking forward to see how the youngsters will do. And Stevens and Merhi ? As much as I admire Manor's comeback, they will be at the back of the field HRT-style.

I understand that a team of bailiff-sheriffs is ready to go the Sauber garage if requested. It wasn't hard to find volunteers for the job

I'm not surprised about the Manor situation, indeed them showing up to Melbourne, passing scrutineering and then not actually heading out onto track was predicted by Radio "We hate everything about F1" Le Mans about a month ago, this way they don't use up the 3 or 4 races that the FIA state you're allowed to miss before failing to qualify for prize money.

Indeed now Sauber are looking more and more questionable their rescue package looks all the more feasible. Just surviving and running around at the back might even get them more prize money in the long run than points did in 2014 if more teams disappear.

Driven wasn't as ludicrous as this situation.

I hope Bernie is fucking proud of how he and CVC have been managing their product. This is on them.

When Money is prevalent in F1, everyone is happy-ish and the series runs smoothly. (2009-2013ish)

As soon as the cash stops rolling in, they revert to type, basic selfishness, greed and shortsightedness.

Everything can be traced back to the decision to sell the rights of the sport to CVC and the continual hiding of the sport behind TV paywalls instead of being on free to air television (making the teams even more reliant on TV money because it's harder to get sponsors of their own for the smaller viewing figures that brings in)

But until Bernie and CVC start feeling it in THEIR wallets, they're happy enough to watch F1 eat itself from the inside out.

Monisha is on the run. She's left the paddock being pursued by a police helicopter flown (and narrated) by Sheriff John Burnell*

*May not be true.

(She's left the paddock anyway)

The live stream of the chase could make a good feed for the F1 app too ;)
