Quote:
The organizers of South Korea’s suspended F1 event all but ruled out a return to the 2015 Grand Prix calendar Thursday, despite Korea’s surprise inclusion by the sport’s governing body.

The appearance of South Korea ― albeit with a “to be confirmed” tag ― in the 21-race calendar announced on Wednesday was a “unilateral” move by the FIA, an organizing committee official told AFP.

“We were given no prior notice. The FIA just announced it, although we’ve already conveyed our position about the difficulties of hosting a race next year,” said the official, who declined to be identified.

The FIA announcement said the Korean event could be held at the existing track in Yeongam, in the southern province of South Jeolla, or on a street circuit in the capital Seoul.

It was tentatively scheduled to slot in as the fifth race of the season on May 3.

The first Korean Grand Prix was staged at Yeongnam in 2010 under a deal that lasted until 2016 with a five-year renewal option. (AFP)

McLaren didn't say they were going to publicly announce their driver line-up today, they said they would discuss it internally in a board meeting with the intent of making a decision. Two very different things. Had they decided today, it's with almost near certainty they would have said "yes we have made a decision on our 2015 driver line-up, which we will announce at a future date".

I guess the delay is either sponsor related or like I suggested in the silly season thread, it's a stalemate because Alonso may be refusing to sign unless gets Button as his team mate whereas McLaren won't sign Alonso unless Magnussen is the team mate.

Either way, Jenson says he'll be fine for 2015. Good on him.

Button's 2009 season review DVD title seems amazingly apt atm

Seems Korea appearing on the schedule may have something to do with the engine regulations as by adding a 21st race to the schedule the teams may be able to use 5 power units through the season rather than 4.

Also the FIA won't ask teams to run a 3rd car next year:

More to do with deliberately disrupting the drivers who were going to be doing double duty in WEC. 3rd May just happens to fall very nicely on the Spa 6 hours, an event which has traditionally been when WEC teams prepare for Le Mans using LM setups and drivers.

I don't know that, at the moment (officially) there is only one driver who wanted to combine these two. And I doubt they would do it deliberately, although they have done weirder things

I guess that's a CCTV image of the perpetrator at the top of the article?

With little changes in the rules, other than small sporting and detail changes, I sense next season will be somewhat similar to this one, pecking order wise. Unless one of Ferrari, McLaren or Red Bull ceased work early and focussed on 2015 very early, Mercedes will still be the dominant team.

Probably not realistic but I like this Massa a lot more than in his last years with Ferrari.

he's suffering the "this is my year" disease that struck David Coulthard for a long time
