Bo77as chose his number for marketing purposes. Hamilton chose 44 as that was his old number in karting.

It would be nice to see #1 used every year to celebrate the champion, but it's not always used in BTCC and it's rarely used in MotoGP.

Not exactly "rare" in MotoGP, it's more of a recent trend. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Rossi was the first raining champion that didn't use #1, in 2002. Rossi was champ in '03, '04, '05, '08 and '09 and still didn't use it in his title defences, and appart from him only Lorenzo in 2013 and Marquez in 2014 didn't use it as well. Hayden used it in 2007, Lorenzo in 2011, and Stoner did the same in 2009 and 2012.

*EDIT
Correction: Barry Sheene also didn't use #1 in both 1977 and 1978, when defending his titles.

Surely if Alonso were allowed to pick a unique number he would go with #0.6.

Ah yes, thanks. I was a bit slow there. About 0.6 behind everyone else...

You mean the big Lewis the Great-show where they made it the battle of the century with Nico even though there was never really any doubt Lewis was gonna win it in the end ?

Bahrain as an exception, the only thing I'm going to remember from 2014 were the 3 races Ricciardo won, which were also the most entertaining to watch.

And Williams' revival ofcourse

First time in years I haven't even looked for any F1 review shows on TV and I have little interest in wasting money on the DVD either.

Random question:

After the race is finished, & they have the podium interviews - Do people (Who view the race on TV) enjoy it being done in this way, or do you prefer the 3 drivers being sat down being asked the same question in many different ways in the interview room?

I personally half enjoy it, but would still like them to give an interview in the room too. I half enjoy it for this reason - the crowd at the track cheer a great drive from a certain driver on the podium & boo a driver who's performance they weren't pleased with - It kind of cuts through all the thought about did he or didn't he give an enjoyable drive to the spectators...?

Worst thing about the podium is those awful electronic flags.

In other news, Kimi's girlfriend has just given birth to a boy.

I like it when Mario Andretti does it, or maybe Martin Brundle. Not so much by drivers who barely can speak English TBH, or when drunk (once was fun, but not regularly plz). DC is dull, random actors/celebrities should not be given the opportunity.
