Never have I been less excited about the start of F1 season...or did I say the same thing last year?

Because of previously promised commitments, I will be trying to keep myself away from all social media and other spoilers and watch qualifying and race on Sunday.

Since Hamilton/DTS fans still won´t accept that Verstappen won at least one if not two titles in an honest way, I hope he wins even more races than last year and that nothing can be found to bring a glimpse of doubt to him or the team.
And then for 2024 we can have a tense fight between Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. In best case scenario without mudfighting and false accusations, but I realise that the chance of Alonso becoming world champion are bigger than that.

Hehe, my 2023 predictions were quite right, but I fear for my 2024 predictions :D

I'm just gonna act like its some Le Mans type series and Max is running a different class and focus on whatever happens behind him.
Luckily the directors actually started to focus on the midfield battles instead of just showing Max do his laps.....

By no means excited for this race. Couldn't even bother to think about the race when scheduled some weekend plans. So I might not even watch it.

Anyway, from everything I hear the order of the pack is expected to be something like that

Bottom group: Haas/Kick in the teeth/Alpine/Williams
With Williams being slightly better while Haas is the weakest team but a decent contender

Middle group: Toro Rosso/Aston Martin/McLaren/Mercedes
McLaren and Mercedes seem to be very close and leading the group

Top group: Ferrari/Red Bull
There is some hope Ferrari improved tyre degradation could poise a challenge to Red Bull, but we all know how it ends

Positively surprised the race is on Saturday, as on Sunday I should be busy racing,... checks weather forecast, ahem: water-skating.

now that the season is starting let's put some infamous stats

Lando Norris is carrying a lot of those such as:
.most podiums without a win (13 - tied with Nick Heidfeld)
.61 laps led without a win (rank 5th overall - lead is still with Chris Amon with 183)
.most points without a win (633 - quite an easy one nowaday after the points revamp in 2010)

Hulkenberg is also on the struggle by being a talent without a top drive
.203 starts without a win (lead is with De Cesaris with 208)
.also 203 starts without a podium (beat by far the 2nd place that is Adrian Sutil with 128)

Haas drivers have inglorious stats as Kevin Magnussen has the most race starts without leading one single lap, having achieved the record last year surpassing Martin Brundle

coming to this race Max Verstappen can equalize Jim Clark on pole position starts

For me the big question will be what Aston Martin will do. Can they repeat their shocking pace from last year, or is it midfield again... you know... like last year...

I have a sneaky feeling Alpha Tauri (RB Cash App Visa whatever) will do what Aston did last year, as I have a sneaky suspicion their car is very, very similar to last years Red Bull.

Saturday races a good idea, they should happen more often. Gets the inevitable over sooner.

I missed pre-season testing, is Alpine really that bad this year?

Really can't read much into that session because it's not the same as quali/race conditions so they're just working on their cars then getting any meaningful times.

Alpine were bad in testing too and the drivers said "it's going to be a though start of the season".
