the opposite side shots - technically no as its still the same view, but appreciate your posting! the 1997 Benetton angle I always liked as it was a bit different from the usual side cam angle with the camera being low down and on the side of the headrest as opposed to above on most cars, giving a more outboard shot. (similar to the 1996 Ferrari)

the rear view t-cam, yes it does count (I never seemed to include them in the library).

hakkinens nose cam at Silverstone - yes as that was the standard lens view, as opposed to the wide angle shot I included in the library.

Here's a shot from Button's car during FP3 at Interlagos in 2008, Its from when FOM were testing the newer HQ native widescreen camera units which they started to bring in Mid-2009:
Image
1st time I recall seeing it show up on the OnBoard channel was as a rear facing shot on Piquet Jr's car during FP3 at Silverstone:

And Kimi's car for a few races afterwards:

Wow! Keep them coming! Much appreciated!

I remember at the start of 2007 when F1 first went widescreen and being disgusted at the onboard picture quality, as rather than have proper widescreen units, they just cropped and zoomed the original 4:3 camera image making the picture look all fuzzy and grainy and lacking colour.

That despite them upgrading the onboard units to digital at the previous years Japanese GP. Talk about cheap-skate!

This upgrade had nothing to do with the quality of the lenses or the onboard units in general. They just upgraded the way how the signal is transmitted from the car to the receiver.
And despite the upgrade to anamorphic lenses the actual signal image quality is still very poor. FOM should finally get their act together and upgrade the onboards to HD. But I can't see that happening next year.

Sure. Just look at MotoGP or WEC for instance.

Its quite clear that FOM will try to get away with spending the bare minimum on the product, but charge the consumer a fortune.

Here's a write up of the history of Onboard Camera's in F1 up to 2010, mainly focussing on angles and innovations, as well as quality of coverage.

Feel free to correct me where I may be wrong or add and info (actual technical detail is missing)

Very informative. Thanks.
Hopefully FOM is already planning to go with 4K cameras. Also, they have to have enough bandwidth to have live onboards from all the cars, to avoid things like Alonso's missing cam in Austria crash.

It was broadcasted November 22nd, 1975 on TF1. According to the French TV archives so I'm pretty sure its accurate.
