Are the spectators still celebrating the world cup victory or something? Where is everyone?

Yeah I know its Friday, but the crowds at the last 2 events have been great.

When was this picture taken btw?

I thought the deal with the change in layout was the old tarmac would be ripped up and a lot more trees planted to make up for the ones they had to cut down for the 2002+era layout.
(which pissed off a lot of people as it's now really hard to get to the Jim Clark Memorial located where he crashed )

De Cesaris fan wrote:
I was watching some races from the old circuit thinking about how narrow it was, and how awesome that is! It gives a sense of speed, and side by side battles were always close. And it's different from all the identical boring wide circuits we have now. Why does every single new track have to be so wide?

More space for "THANK YOU MR MATERSCHIZ AND WELL DONE BERNIE, BEST MAN IN ALL OF FORMULA ONE AND JUST SO BRILLIANT WE HAD TO WRITE THIS AD ALL OVER THE TRACK TO LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT A TOP CHAP HE IS. P.S. HE'S INNOCENT TOO!" graphics.

Still, aside from where this new track is located (even more of a shame they ripped up the old track so DTM/Blancpain or something can't race there any more either imo ) the "new" Hock layout isn't really that bad tbh.
2002: side by side battle with Kimi and Monty for 3/4 of a lap.
2003: Start crash and MS among others overtaking late in the race
2004: Jenson's storm through the field depite having to hold onto his helmet
2005: Ehh....I remember Jaques having about 12 crashes with backmarkers but that's about it really.
2006:*shrug* Jaques wrecked out of the sport though
2007 *begins sharing with Nurburgring
2008: Random SC brings in good tast overtaking from Lewis and others in the second half of the race.
2010: We all remember this race but not for the great overtaking action I imagine
2012: Good race, Jenson overtaking then last lap pass (or not) for second.
2014: ?

So it's possible to have great racing here. We can only hope 2014 can continue that trend.

I'm surprised you don't remember Timo Glock's pretty hard accident. Afterall, it was about the single most memorable part of the race until that point.

So track limits aren't going to be an issue this weekend?

WTF? This is the one place where I'd expect them to be stricter about it than most, particularly at turn 1 :slaphead:

Lol...yeah that's what I get picked up on.

Random because of the time of race it came out at, throwing everyone's fuel/tyre strategies into chaos, obviously it came out with good reason :p

Then everyone said it was unfair that Piquet went from the back to the front because of a timely safety car.
