That's still "race spec" Monaco in most of those pictures. "Normal" Monaco looks even more different and especially the swimming pool & Rascasse area was hard for me to recognize.

Well yeah, but I meant before the race weekend properly starts.

about that Tambay crash, if he got a bit more air, it could happen a tragedy like Spain 75, look at the people there

Whoever he hit was pretty lucky as well - i'm sure he took a hit on his head.

It was Brundle, not the first time that would happen in his career (Brazil).

Wow, I knew about Brazil '94 but not this one. The man must have the neck muscles of a bull.

He had his fair share of major shunts like Dallas and Monaco in 1984, Interlagos in 1994 and Melbourne in 1996.

I remember somewhere in this forum there is a photo of Tambay's wheel hitting Brundle's helmet.

So I guess this qualifies him as the hardest man ever to come out of Norfolk :)

For me the part that really looks different in real life is the part between the chicane after the tunnel and before the tabac corner, as you realize that the chicane is just a vast area of asphalt with no markings, and the short straight that follows is just a walkway for pedestrians along the port, with no separation whatsoever between the walk and the sea.
This is what both parts looked like when I last went a few years ago:

And the Melbourne tarmac/grass/gravel too quite probably.
